Why is Mr. Fantastic so hard to find

I became a member in here almost a year ago after I found a canvas bag with 13 WGSH Megos that I had as a child. I have been able to buy missing parts and have even found a really neat and cheap way to re card them that looks really good. I have also bought a few Megos that I never had as a kid, most notably the Riddler and the Human Torch. I even was able to make a one off custom of the Red Skull that I think looks pretty good considering I have never made a custom before. I have been trying now for over a year to buy a Mr. Fantastic but have had no luck at all. Was he really rare back in the day? It seems he is never for sale, not even on E Bay. I am desperate to buy this Mego. I would most likely over pay for him. At this point I would even consider just his head and costume. I have an extra Aquaman that could be used for a broken body. Does anyone out there have one for sale? Please help a member, I promise he will go to a good home with a place of honor on my wall of carded Megos.

I believe that he was actually hard to find, until the Pin Pin French 79 cards were dumped in the US in the 80s. Those are still fairly common on ebay, but could run you $100 or more and the head will be gray.

You could also score a boxed figure for $200 or less and then sell off the box. You would get a non-gray head that way.

Before when i had to sell my loose collection i had the evil zombie head version. I tried forever to find one cheap enough without the zombie head. I finally saw a sweet one on ebay. I ended up paying over $50 bucks for that dang head. I think i sold that figure for $75. When i got my current job and started my collection over again, he was a pain to find. I ended up getting lucky and bought one with a perfect head for around $80. Be patient Mike, he will turn up eventually for you. I wish i had one to sell but hopefully Chris or Berto can hook you up.

For some reason your hard luck story has inspired the mm community to help you, including me! If the other deals fall through, i have a loose reed with a very nice repro outfit I would sell to you for what I paid for it, relatively cheap. I think the fact that you still had your childhood canvas bag of 13 megos stirred the heartstrings of this crowd. I must learn to ape your sincere writing style for my own gain (ha!) as I need a spider pole, invis girl glove and numerous other odds and ends that are not so poignant
