I picked up a Martian manhunter from the DC Retro series. Suddenly I think I need them all as the scale is identical and I did not quite realize it. MY BAD!! How are the Spider-Man Origins figures? DO they match up? I want to get a Capt America and maybe a Doc Ock.... Are they compatable in size? I have never seen one in person, but before I start getting involved with eBay I wanted some advice??

The Spider-Man: Origins figures stand at 9", some a little taller. I'm assuming the Retro-Action figures are smaller, so they wouldn't be compatable.sigpic

The retro figs are perfect. I put all of mine on mego bodies. The spiderman origins are 9 inch and to me are just a tab too big. I picked up a doc ock and it towers over my SpidermanComment

Start looking into customs. One of the best things about mego like figures is you can make virtually any character.Comment

I like the Origins figs becuase they show up at LOTS of swapmeets and thrift stores! If you are dispalying them together or creating a diroma, they will not work. The bodies don't feel anything like a mego and just don't work. However, idf they are for a kid for play ,they are really stable and should work just fine.<>_<> I will always be watching you, always.Comment

I have seen some figures customized from Origins outfits, so it is possible. But for the most part, they are on a different scale to work consistently. Personally I have never taken issue with the scale difference. Mego had 8, 9.5, and 12 inch figures, so variety in scale was there too. But for customizers this may be the reason for that displeasure. Otherwise they are cool figures. Hasbro did a good job with them.Comment

I honestly believe the distribution screwed that line. The majority of that line was pumped out through Target. TRU and later KB Toys also carried some of it. But I think Hasbro was expecting Target to carry the bulk of that series, especially with the exclusives. And they absolutely dropped the ball on the line. I remember it like it was yesterday when that line came out. Target didn't let that sit on shelves for a month before they were marking it down. And by the time they got to Sandman, they never even put him on the shelves. He literally went from the stockroom to the discount end cap on the same day. So I think Target undermined Hasbro's ability to introduce the line and sold them out before the line even took hold. That's the reason why you never see lines like this in those stores anymore. Target's merchandise rotation is too aggressive to carry a Mego-style line. To me, figures like Doc Ock and Daredevil were nice additions to the Mego-style universe. I liked the Punisher and Mr Fantastic too. It just never got off the ground before they had to shift through other distributors after Target bailed early. I would never expect another Mego line in those stores again.Comment

Has anybody used these as starters to customize and expand your Mego Marvel lineup?
I was wondering about the Doc. Ock and the Iron Spider.Visit my wiki site:
