Thoughts on the DC Robot Chicken special?

Well, it's been two days since it aired now, and I've yet to see a comment on the show itself. I know we are a bunch of old men who can't stay up late on a Sunday night, but I watched it on my DVR last night.

    So what did you think?

eh It was ok, I personally find Robot Chicken to be best in 15 minutes, The half hour episodes (Star Wars, and now DC) seem to drag a little but that's just me

A bit hit or miss like all Robot Chicken pieces. The Zoo Crew funeral for me, was the most inspired bit, followed by the Superman pick up being narrated by GL and Batman. The running gag with Bane was a clunker.

Yeah, the Zoo Crew bit was fun, but I bet that totally flew over the heads of most folks.

The Bane bit was indeed a clunker. A better pay-off may have worked. Actually, I would have rather seen more quick gags than the loose plotline they concocted. The Superman kiss bit was a kind of funny at first, but not worth hinging the whole show on.

I actually enjoyed the Star Wars specials more. Mr. Banjo was an obscure reference. I kind of thought those were funny. Firestorm fans were probably ticked though.

I still had fun with it but i think my other issue may have been two of the funnier skits got leaked before hand. The Superman kissing gag but was great but I'd seen it.

It was fun to see Retro Action figures in there.

The Two-Face bit was my personal favorite, but was also leaked (pun intended) beforehand.

Interesting that they used the Mego Superman and Aquaman heads, but stuck with Retro-heads for most of the others.

I also know how to pronounce "B'dg" now. I was saying it like "Bee-dig".

I had avoided all the promos/leaks, so that was not an issue for me. I thought there were a few good laughs, just not as many as I hoped for... not on par with the Star Wars special. I think my favorite was the Riddler bit. And it was fun just for seeing all the figures.

I enjoyed the Aquaman gags a lot. Especially when he was all liquored up hitting on the dolphin. Come on guys, admit it, we've all been there. And yeah it was cool to see the Retro Actions in action.

I couldn't stay up for it. I hope they show it again.

I thought it was okay, I guess I tend to have higher expectations for RC, Lord knows why. For me the greatest bit of comedy occured outside the show when my wife asked who the character was that became a Green Lantern because she thought he was part of the DCU.

I thought the invisible jet gag was priceless...everything after that was downhill for me except Aquaman hitting on the dolphin chick, but that was in the commercials.

I have to wonder which bits Geoff Johns wrote and if they were the ones we thought were great or clunkers?

I thought they did a great job mixing the megos with the DCU figures. Say what you want about
Captain Cold - I'm think his outfit is much better than Mirror Master.

Looking forward to the next one - with Shazam

Oh yeah, Captain Cold has a much better outfit. Mirror Master's suit is almost too "generic super villain".

As for that debate, Icicle beat them to the punch by a good 10 years at least.

                              Shazam! Dang!!!
