Anybody else not know who some WGSH's were ?

Not being a comic reader and missing some cartoons back in the day some WGSH's were fav's of mine just for their suits.

    A few examples.

I love Shazam --- If i'm remembering correctly Mego Shazam actually came out BEFORE the live action TV series ... So I basically loved the Shazam WGSH because of his cool yellow and red suit.

    Same for Captain America.
I had a Capt America Mego long before I even know who he was.

I never even knew Mego made an Ironman until the mid 80's ...
No matter - I would have had no idea who he was anyway.
I probably wouldn't have liked him because his suit (and head) just wasn't cool looking.-- Knowing me, I would have thought that.

So my question is, back in the day did you have WGSH's that you really didn't know who they were ?

Most of them. Except for Conan, 'cos he's awesome. I wasn't into superheroes as a kid.

If I had ever seen them, which I didn't, I wouldn't have known who the Teen Titans were. Didn't know who Falcon was either, but again, not sure I ever saw him in a store.

I admit to not knowing who everyone was on the back of my first Mego cards. I only had Supes, Bats, Robin, Spidey, Cap and Hulk as a kid, and I knew all of those guys. By the time Mego folded, I knew all the characters on the back...and wondered why I had never seen ANY of their figures anywhere!

Same here. Maybe Isis? But I don't remember not remembering her. Maybe I'm misremembering now...

No,sorry I was s p o o n fed superheros since I could remember.......the first time I ever laid eyes on Megos it came down to (in my head) Curt Swan's Superman or Jack Kirby's Captain America.........Superman won because of the Tv show starring George Reeves.....I regretted not Getting Cap my Mom ended getting Cap for me on my Birthday the first of three times I would get him during my childhood

I was a huge superhero nut, so I instantly knew them all as they were coming out. On the other hand, some of the Star Trek Megos confused me ("Neptunian? Wha..???" But I still loved ol' Neppy anyway).

My neighbor had most of the Megos. I had Shazam...he was my first. I knew Batman and Robin and Superman. Never really picked up comics when I was young...pretty much got introduced to them in fourth grade when one of the kids brought a CONAN Comic to school. Then he kept bringing them so I could read them when he was done.....Then I found out he was picking them up at 7-11. I peddled my bike there after every allowence day.
The weird Mego that my friend had that I didn't know was spiderman. Never heard of him or saw him before....so when he wanted to play with spidey I had no problem with that...the guy didn't even have a cape for crying out loud. I did think the red hands were cool. I think I broke three Shazams before I ever got a second mego type...and that was superman.
I remember when my neighbor Mike brought out Ironman for the first time.....just another guy I had never heard of.....without a cape.....and I couldn't touch him...lol. My early Mego experience was very limited....which is probably why I need to own them all now.
