Hey everyone,
A lot has happened since we implemented the update and I thought I'd catch you up on where we are at so you don't have to wade through the earlier Community Upgrade thread.
New Look: Upgrading the forums meant we had to lose our original page designs, they were so out of date they conflicted with the latest software. While we are still tinkering we do have a number of "skins" to chose from now. Simply choose from the drop-down menu in the bottom left corner of the forum. We look forward to adding some others, suggestions welcome. Please let us know if there is anything you are having trouble reading due to color issues. There are a lot of little parts to these templates, I have no doubt I've missed something.
Forum Headers: One drawback to the new software is it doesn't seem to support having a different header for each forum. We miss it, too. Especially Custom of the Week. We are madly researching a fix and hope to have one soon. In the meantime we have retired the old look and are currently going with a header that matches the homepage more or less. It's all in transition, you'll see changes from time to time.
Museum Integration We finally have links to the Galleries and Accessory Check and the Library in the navbar of the Forum. About damn time!
You have no Friends That's not true, you have hundreds of friends here at the Museum! But we did deactivate the "Friends" feature. It was causing a lot of confusion. The point of the Friends feature was so you could keep better track of the activities of your favorite people through your Profile page. This is a small enough community that it's not needed.
Blogs One way to keep track of interesting people is to Subscribe to their blog if they are keeping one. A few folks have started them, and we hope more people give it a try. Posting in forum threads is still the number one way to interact with the board and always will be, but if you really want to stretch out and indulge yourself in long winded articles about your fascinating self please feel free. We do ask that you observe the general rules of the forum and refrain from religious or political or NSFW content in your blog.
The Museum isn't Ad-Free now! The Entertainment Earth and Amazon ads will be back, we are just tinkering with the settings of the new board and working to make them as tasteful and useful a part of the place as we can.
That's all I can think of for now, but here will be more. Please keep us posted on what's working for you and what isn't. We really value your input and hope that the updated forums improve your experience at the Museum.
Thanks for your support.
PS! We gots the videos now! Change is your friend!
