Hello all! My name's Greg and I'm new to the museum here. A little about myself, I'm 44 yrs old, live in Waxahacie, TX, divorced for 15 years, have 2 boys ages of 23 and 18 (Yay! No more child support!) and I work nights at a glass coating plant here in town.
My first Megos were the removable cowl Batman and Robin that I got for my birthday in 1971. I went on to have most of them over the next few years, my favorite being Captain America (just something about that darn shield that I loved). I am also a big Planet of the Apes fan and had all of those Megos as well as a few of the Star Trek Megos. Knowing what I know now, I wish I had taken better care of them and still had em...Hind sight is always 20/20, right???
Anyway, I always had a love for those classic old "Mego-esqe" type figures and when the Famous Covers came out, I started collecting them and eventually customizing them. I worked on those for a couple of years and eventually got out of it for very personal reasons in 2007. When the DC Retro Action figures started coming out, I started collecting them and that renewed my interest in customizing again. So about a year and a half ago I started flirting with the idea, brainstorming and planning, gathering parts and started customizing again...this time with Megos! I work very slowly and take a lot of time with my customs because of the planning and gathering of parts and also partly because of my work schedule. I really enjoy Megos and customizing and plan on doing it for a long time to come! I'll try and post some pics of my customs I've done so far on the Custom Mego fourms.
