I know that usually if you have to explain a joke it isn't very funny, but this one really is! Only a couple of prototypes of the weapon in the picture were ever made and (thank God!) none were ever deployed.

It's probably the WORST idea ever... it's a self contained, fire and forget tactical baby nuke launcher that can be carried, assembled and operated by just 2 guys. The warhead has a range of just a couple of miles, and packs enough punch to evaporate many square blocks out right, and make even the largest population centers uninhabitable due to radioactive contamination.

The instructions for the crew were, dig a hole, fire weapon, jump in hole. No s***.

So why is the pic funny?

The weapon in the picture was named "The Davey Crocket".
