They work really well.
When I'd done this for my 6" Vinyl Kaiju I got a quote from the local glass supply shop - and I suppose yes, I could have asked for pricing without grinding the edges down - but still, they came back with $150 for four shelves.
At that point I went to the corner picture framer and had them cut me four glass pieces, for a total of $25 They're thin (you should have 1/8" but framing glass is 1/16") but you could always double up.
For that matter buy a second case @ $65 or whatever, and use the shelves. Then you have a tall display left over for that Batman cape/cowl you've been trying to figure out how to display. Or I guess you could even have a glass/framer shop cut down the wall pieces into additional shelves if you're getting multiple units.Last edited by Tothiro; May 18, '12, 4:00 PM.Comment

Yeah, the only drawback is the tempered edged glass, you can't just get that anywhere. I got some free glass someone was giving away during a remodel and had the hardware store cut it. Handle with care....This profile is no longer active.Comment

i am still looking for a place to buy the glass shelves as well. i picked up the rope clips and find that the new shelves have to actually be a little larger than what comes with the detolfComment
