    MEGO WGSH Villains Question

I still have 3 of the 4 original villains (Penguin, Riddler, Mr.Mxyzptlk first style smirk), and I used to have the Joker as well. Always wondered why (seemingly) that the Riddler is deemed the most valuable of the four? When I see them on eBay, etc. the Riddler loose is generally in the $80 range compared to the others at $50-$60 loose/mint.

By the way, I guess as preference from my childhood, but I much prefer the T1 bodies to the T2 bodies, especially for the villains. Seems that they hold up much better over the years, at least from personal experience.

It may be supply and demand on the Riddler. I think he's the coolest of the 4.
    Fresh, not from concentrate.

If I'm not mistaken, I think he was shortpacked in the Super Foe cases (I forget the ratio). That, plus demand, makes him the most expensive of the four.

I guess illogical case ratios have plagued toy lines for years. Packing more Mxys than Riddlers doesn't make a whole lot of sense, especially with the 60s Batman series in constant reruns in the 70s, and Frank Gorshin's unforgettable performance as the character!

I personally prefer the Type 2 bodies, since they were what I had as a kid, and they have a more pleasing aesthetic. But I do think villains like Joker and Riddler look a bit better on Type 2 Bodies since they are supposed to be thinner than the heroes.

By the way, welcome to the board!

According to Ben,it was four out of a case of 24. Compared to 8 with the Joker and Penguin.

Also Riddler was cut out of the line I before Joker/Penguin. So that too contributes to there being far more Joker and Penguins in the supply.

As a little kid in the Mego era, I always thought the RIDDLER was the
              most desirable figure.

I think it's because he was the most normal of the costumed baddies
of the choices given... no other foe was a typical white guy in decent shape!

Close-minded as that mindset was... it was mine as a child.

Always wondered why the figure was short-packed.

I only saw it in stores ONCE as a kid.

As a kid i didn't get my first mego till 76-77 so as an adult i prefer type 2 bodies as to me the type 1 body seems weak. But that's because i never had a type 1 growing up. Even today i love the Riddler over Joker and Penguin. Joker being not far behind though. And Mxyzptlk i have just to complete my collection.

Although it's already been said, I'll support the "Short Packed" and "dropped from the line early" comments. Riddler is my favorite of the Mego WGSH villians, but they did a great job on The Joker too!
