You can tell it's a Time Warner Corporate fantasy - the clerk is wearing a tie.

I wonder how hard it was to put together this photo shoot - the CAH's were
probably production samples sent to the office - but who had the first issue
Batmobile with backer card laying around. Maybe a 5 & 10 on Long Island
      or Jersey?

If you look closely at the comic book store in Big Bang Theory - it all DC
and a little Star Trek and Star Wars - but an absence of Marvel merchandise.
Big Bang Theory is a Warner Bros. show.

I always thought they skimped on the clerk.

Like Paul said this is a lca fantasy piece about creating DC comics boutiques in major toy store. The various toys are likely just from their sample room.

In my private life I've worked with Warner Brothers, Universal and Nickelodeon, they all have rooms like this packed to the gills with merchandise. The Universal people gave me some stuff, I was hoping for Monsters, I got "Nanny McPhee" merchandise....

Interesting in that around the same time frame the original "Superhero Shop" was forced to change it's name to Heroes World.

I know that DC took my comic book shop to court back in the late 70's early 80's because they were "Thinking" about opening their own stores. They never did open the store. For the first 2-3 years the store I had my file at and visited more then a few times a week was called the "Batcave". He had 3 stores at the time. DC basically bullied him and he had to change the name of the store. 30 + years later though...he's still in business. Long Island Comics.
"When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
                      The beauty that surrounds them
                      Isn't it a pity".

Man that ad brings back some childhood memories. I remember going into the TG&Y store and seeing those items. Wish i could go back and get them all!

That's weird because they did that whole Stan Lee episode.
