Lost Treasures of the 1974 Mego Showroom

The Mego find of the decade sounds a bit like a dream a lot of collectors have had, a young Mego employee asks to keep the items from the 1974 Toy Fair showroom and then stores them in a climate controlled closet for 34 years. That's exactly what toy collector/dealer Bruce Zalkin encountered recently when he unearthed rare store displays, prototype figures and never before seen items. Read Lost Treasures of the Mego Showroom, it's one you won't want to miss!

If that weren't enough, all of these items will be available for sale through Ebay this month in no reserve auctions! Details are in the article, happy bidding!
Also, be sure to pick up this month's Lee's Toy Review for an article on this find.

OH MY GOD, MAN!!! You did not disappoint. I so want that campmobile box. I want the counter displays but that chances of me winning one I think will be pretty slim.

Kind of a big deal, huh? This is the time capsule we've been dreaming of.

I don't think I could have kept a poker face during this negotiation. One thing Bruce told me was that the seller knew their stuff, thanks to us. Too bad they didn't drop us a line so we could get an interview.

I can some major coin going for some of these pieces. It's not just what they are but where they came from. And I would like to thank Bruce for sharing this treasure with us.

                Oh my goodness.

My first instinct at seeing all of this was that it's too good to be true, I had to check and see that it wasn't April 1st

What a find! Those displays look like they were made yesterday, just stunning. The first run monsters, the super crisp carded items, the Zira sample, holy crap.

My bank account had a minor stroke when I read that it's all going on the 'bay. This will be talked about for a looooong time.

                Wow.

If awesome is defined as that which leaves you in awe and wonder then that is the most awesome thing I have seen in toy collecting. Each one of these is a major find, but all together? Unreal.

I'm presuming all the loose and boxed figures been thoroughly gone over for possible pre-production status? Beyond the Frankie and Drac I mean. Unusual neck or body markings etc, especially with the Foes and Gals? If ever some pre-prod heads or bodies were to appear you'd think this would be it.

Forgot to thank those resposnsible for bringing this collection to light too, take a bow!

                    Cheers,

I find it interesting that the boxed Catwoman has flesh legs and the loose one has blue legs. I also like the AJ Adventure Set box. Pretty unique stuff.

                        AWESOME

What a major find, and a major scoop. Incredible!

I wonder if those display boxes are also some sort of early prototypes, or are they the commercial boxes?

Some real beauties there. I especially love the silkscreen supergals.

I've always thought Zira's card was kind of pukey, but now I see it could have been worse.

eno****ered? Methinks I can figure out the middle part of Brian's misspelling!

That said, what an amazing find! 'Tis the stuff that dreams are made of!
