    C2E2 Coverage

Over at Infinite Hollywood, we have a fair amount of C2E2 coverage. Including some news on DST Retro-Cloth figures and even some news on what they plan to do with the ZICA bodies. I can tell you that the folks at DST were excited and passionate about the potential to do some great stuff there and they're still big Mego fans.

Also some Captain Action stuff from Round 2 and a recap of my conversation with the folks behind that line. Some stuff to learn and not all of it good, but not really bad either.

Plus tons of other news and plethora of other toy talk, photos, cosplay and general con stuff. Check it out if you feel groovy. I'll have more updates through the weekend. Head on over to the mothership and check it out if you're inclined.

Very interesting news about Zica body. With Hot Toys pricing out of the casual market, there does need to be something to fill in the under $50 bracket.

With Star Trek and Universal monsters already done in retro, what does that leave... New BSG? Star Trek? Movie ghostbusters? Back to the future?

I think Expendiables might be a win if you can capture the military figure enthusiast, but it might be a tough sell because they are married to 12".

If they had that blond in any of the Super Mario games, they would sell out in record time.

If the military collectors are married to 12 inch, they may start dating
1:9 scale on the side. Collectors like something to collect, and now that
most of the 1:6 scale lines are out of production or too expensive to
keep up with, a more reasonably priced figure may tempt them.

thanks for the virtual day at the con.

Great news all around on the diamond and retro scene. I agree with doc that if the 12" market has priced itself up into the consistent three digit range, then there will be a hole for a market closer to $40 - $50 and the scale will not necessarily be a deciding factor there.

The Round2 stuff is currently right in my target sights, so the info there is very much appreciated. I am not surprised to hear that the CA figure itself is not selling as much as the costumes. These folks worked with and against the same scenario with the PM Captain figures and outfits. Does one buy a fully costumed figure with the body included - is it the retro vibe of the costume on a card that sells - should you have modern packaging or harken to the vintage line?? ..... all of those things are carefully balanced in this line, and no questions are easy to answer. The one suggestion I would make would be to sell a Captain Action body on a blister card with no accessories whatsoever in the realm of 15-20 bucks. No costume, no nothin'. Just like buying a Hot Toys body or a NEO or whatever. I think they might sell a batch of those to the customizers and the folks that just want an armature for their costume sets, but don't want another dozen blue and black jumpers and lighting swords would be satisfied.

thanks again for the fun con coverage. Keep on posting those mushroom pics.
