Wow! I've just now stumbled onto the tutorial about re-stringing Mego bodies. I can now have a go at fixing Dr Zaius. All the imaginative custom figures are really wonderful. Very glad that I joined this forum

I had action figures as a child in the 70's. Planet of the Apes, Star Trek, Monsters and Superheros. I never new that the company was called "Mego". When Toy Biz did their Famous Covers series, I thought. "hey, they're doing those same kinda figures again". Then I read somewhere that they were "just like the old Mego figures of the 70's", and figured THAT'S what they were. I still had a few of them at my parents house, and sold some of them on E-Bay! I just kinda surfed onto this site, and didn't really give it a second thought... Then I checked it out again, and saw some of the customs, and REALLY dug those! That got me hooked. So for about 6 months now, I've really gotten into it. I've gotten some stuff from Doc Mego and CTVTs and put together some of my own stuff, but I've never sculpted or "poured" anything like that yet. I've bought some customs from Type-3-John, Sandy C-Monster and a couple of others. I'm really looking forward to all the monsters comming up....

Hello everyone! I've been looking at this site on and off for a while, and after seeing some Planet of the Apes custom sculpts on one of the forums i got excited so had to join.
My background is plastic scale modelling, which i've been into since i was a kid, and currently i work as sculptor of wargaming miniatures, both historical and sci-fi/fantasy.
My Mego 8" Apes are some of my most cherished toys, though recently the elastic in my Dr Zaius broke and his arms and legs fell off!
