The biggest problem I have with it is that I personally know a former Mego sculptor and have had lenghty conversations with him about his time there (which is this exact period).

Trust me, Mego threw out more sculpts than they used, especially in the late 1970s. They had him doing spec pieces constantly.

Also, there is just no actual evidence to suggest it other than "it kinda looks like him" so yeah, it's a fun thing to guess but it's not likely.

Jordache was done during Bill Baron's tenure, those were hard years and Bill told me he made many toy fair prototypes at home in his basement.

Aw man, I LOVED the Micronauts Emperor. I'd picked up an Hourtoys clearance one at Lionel just when I'd started buying my own stuff. I can't tell how many times he got decapitated or an arm chopped off...

How much of a list of the scrapped sculpts do we have? I mean I'm sure there's a lot of stuff like the Shut Up Howard, but is there a list put together of ideas that never saw light with regard to ST or WGSH like the alternate Hulk sculpt and such?
The Could-Have-Beens would be a fun 8" project, like re-imagined over again.

Eventually I'll get ALL the details finalized (and one day, images) but there is some really neat stuff like a generic 8" line called "Hobbits".

Ferrigno Hulk is well documented (and I recently saw it) as well as Ursa, Non from the Superman Movie, there are two 12" Trek Aliens as well.

            I totally agree!

I haven't read Bonavita's book yet, so I wonder where I heard the whole Dr. Strange/Jordache hypothesis? Or maybe I simply saw the Jordache figure and made the same conclusion. Could have read it in a thread somewhere in the past. Who knows?

Yeah, that definitely looks like the Comic Superman head. As a child, I only ever had the Reeves version, so I'm not as familiar with the Comic head or I probably could have answered my own question.

With a bit of alteration on the hairline, I do think the sculpt could have made a much better Strange than Superman.

Or maybe a Lt. Dangle custom is in order?!

Regardless, thanks again for the excellent discussion!

Wow. I'm guessing something like Rigellian/Megarite... Those would (will?) be cool as heck to see.

Hobbits though, done in a Robin Hood Merry Men style would have been epic... And these got as far as some spec sculpts? Or just concept?

Sorry - a Lt. Dangle custom in NEVER in order.

Don't get me wrong - I love the actor (Thomas Lennon? - too lazy to
google) but I never got into that show.

Lol! Yeah, Thomas Lennon. Guess this means that I can stop holding my breath for EMCE's Reno 911 line.

I can't wait to see some more info and pics of these. I've been dying to know more about the unproduced 12" Trek aliens since you first mentioned them.

That is not a prototype, it's a custom made by a member.
