REasons behind Megos costume chioces?

For instance Catwoman is wearing an outfit that most non comic fans wouldn't recognize but to those of us with too much time reading comics we know she actually did wear that suit for a very short time. On the boots she should have red cuffs (which wear silkscreened on the first version) but prob due to cost Mego left the cuffs blue.

Robin has an odd hair doo and an all yellow belt. Why? If you watch the animated opening to the Adam West batman that is how is drawn and colored.

Cap couldn't have gloves because he needed to hold his shield.
His face was painted black because Mego mistook shading for coloring.
Why a blue belt? Why no white sleaves? Cheap?

Other than just because they wear saving money - does anyone know why certain "mistakes" wear made on other characters?

And Robin's hairstyle is reminscent of his 1940s look which was being featured in numerous comic book reprints of the day.

I've often wondered why Mego just didn't give him read hands and cuffs to solve the glove problem. Worked for Spider-Man. And the Green Goblin and Green Arrow.

His face was painted black because Mego mistook shading for coloring.

Odd that Mego didn't give Batman the black shading as well.

My guess is that mego made the choices they did on Batman and Robin are because of the removable masks.No black on the r.m. (probably to save costs) and they just carried it over when they went with the molded on mask.Robin with the spit curls looked a bit more unique with the mask off than the parted hairstyle.

like each design decision was made as they went---and some decisions made
more sense then others----in the end, these are products---
and thru product development, a result was reached---simple as that-

Hmm. I was wondering why they didn't do the face black paint like Cap - that is a good explaination.

That's the point - WHY? You are only answering (without an actual answer) design choices that reflect cost. So Why did they make those choices?

You statement doesn't even address things that reflect the way characters were depicted based on available images.

I think the guys who drew him back in the 70's had a habit of actually moving the shadow around; and he didin't look so much like he had a black patch.

Catwoman I don't understand; but I've seen a few toys LATELY that use this older design. (Like that Corgi car...) Maybe DC was pushing it back in the day?

From the conversations I've had it seems like neither Marvel nor DC really had much of a licensing department, not like they do today. So it's probably a case of Mego asking for images of the Female characters and them getting a current issue with that lamentable costume.

Even if you look at the Slurpee cups around the same time, they use some images from the 40's, hardly a style guide....

When dealing with overseas manufacturer, there is a communcation and cultural differenses.and possiable to prevent production mishaps and speed that kept most of the outfits simple.one of the hardest would be Aquaman with the different colors used.

simplest being the hulk.
Ideal and hasbro found that out in the 60s.
Mcfarlane found it out in 1990's
