Just bought an unopened case of 24 Mego Klingons!

Hi guys........my 1st post here on the forum. Have been into ST Megos for many years; had a nice collection back in the '90's and sold them to pay bills (what else!) and have now started to rebuild the collection.

I just found an unopened shipping case of 24 Mego Klingons this past weekend on ebay; put in a bid, an surprisingly, won the auction. Now I'm wondering just what to do with these; they could be the 5 face OR 6 face versions, don't know because this case has been sealed since they were put in it 37 years ago.......again, since the case is sealed I really don't know which figures are actually in there. But one thing's for certain, they will be pretty stone mint and be almost impossible to upgrade if they're sold! But I almost hate to even open it! So, I could:

#1 Keep it as is & have 24 Mego Klingons in perfect condition (that I can't see!)

#2 Open it, keep one & sell 23 of them on ebay.

#3 Keep the case sealed & sell it later on down the road

    Opinions????

I agree, option 2 seems like the best...how much did you pay for them? they usually go for $25-$35 a piece so as long as you can make your money back you should be fine

        and welcome by the way

Paid $849.00 for the case. You're correct, but if they happen to be the earlier 5 face carded versions, they would bring more money.......those seem to be pretty scarce........and thanks BTW!!!

It just seems awful to open these guys up after they've been stored in that shipping case all these years!! BUT........what if there's 24 ROMULANS in there?????

yea that's a tough decision, but the difference in price between a sealed case and an open case is nothing...I'd have to atleast take a peak

Yep, my luck would be that I'd sell it sealed and the buyer would open it up and find an assortment of ALIENS in there......THAT would be what would happen.......so, I'm probably just gonna have to open it up........

                      Klingon Mania!

                      Hi there!
Nice job with the pickup. I have also been a Star Trek MEGO case purchaser. It's loads of fun! If you do open it, be prepared to meet some examples that will not be "stone mint" due to all kinds of variables. I hope that you will have awesome luck and find T1 examples and blank back examples and even some reverse packaged examples.

The risk of the sealed case!!!!!

Just so you are aware, I have seen the following flaws in the cases I have opened:
                      • Broken bubbles
                      • Crushed edges
                      • Popped knee pins
                      • Melted accessories
                      • Lifted bubbles
                      • Moldy collars
                      • Nose or skull push on bubbles

                      Best of luck to you!!!!!

I'd probably open it up, you never know if there is something else inside. I'd put one in a sealed up protective plastic case like they grade figures with. I'd open up one to play around with. I'd sell the rest.

Hi and welcome. Any writting or numbers on the case? That might help you know what's in there.
                            It's all good!

The printing on the box is:

                              ITEM No. 51200/7
                              Qty: 2 Dozen
                              Desc: Klingon

                              MADE IN HONG KONG

                              'Description:

This auction is for a unopened case of Star Trek Mego Klingon action figures (Item No. 51200/7). These are NOT reproductions. These are believed to be from 1974 but we cannot confirm without opening the case. Case contains 24 pieces. It is unknown which card back is on these figures (the 5 face or the 6 face) or which of the three tunic variations the figure is wearing. Picture shown of figure is a stock photo, not one from this case.'
