    Toy Collector TV Show

    This was announced this morning

Travel Channel approved two new original unscripted series and has two other series in development for 2012......

The second approved series is Toy Hunters, a weekly half-hour series following toy and collectible dealer Jordan Hembrough also from Sharp Entertainment.

The names not familiar to me,
has anyone ever dealt with this guy, or know what his focus is?

Jordan Hembrough owns a company called Hollywood Heroes. I think his main bread and butter are Star Wars prototypes but I've seen (and bought) some pretty neat stuff from him in the past.

This show had a pilot air last month, I was unable to see it (although I wanted to) but others here did and gave it mixed but fairly positive reviews.

It was a pretty fun show. It wasn't nasty like a lot of reality shows. Very upbeat. Kind of like a "Man vs. Food" for toy collectors. I think the same production company does MVF.

Glad to see it make it to series. Should be worth watching.

Based on the pilot I'd watch the show. It did show some neat prototypes. Seemed to lean towards eighties toys given the passions of the dealer the show follows and the current marketplace... MASK. Care Bears. Thundercats. Kenner batman.

He visited the Tomart Offices, the home of former Kenner employees, a toy designer, and really fixated on the rocket firing Boba Fett, before ending with a kind of hokey NYCC sequence where they attempt to build suspense around whether he would sell his high ticket prototypes or not. It's focus is really on the toys and the locales he goes to (since it is on the travel channel), in contrast with the jibber jabber "real life Clerks" antics of Comic Book Men.

I have known Jordan for about 10 years - talking to him at shows around the
country. He is a MEGO fan and wants to do future episodes about them.

He contacted me at the last minute to get the word out about the pilot,
and I hooked him up with Brian, but never saw any mention of it here.

As soon as someone knows the time slot of the series, post it sticky here
so we can all catch it - because I never remember that I have a DVR in my
            cable box.

There were toys made in the 1980s? Daniel and Jason spoke about Toy Hunters briefly on Geeks Shall Inherit and it sounds really good. Currently, it isn't OnDemand. Maybe ToyHunters will interview Marty Abrams or Doc? Both at the same time would be even better. Now that's a show for Sweeps week....the Travel Channel can thank me later.

Not a fan of Comicbook Men but I will give it one more chance.

If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.

That's cause Brian needed a press release of some sort and it never showed up. I'm a good soldier for the cause but I need sumpin to go on.

Watched the show last night, enjoyed it. Mostly because it doesn't play up the geek angle in any forced way and the drama is kept on the downlow.

Someone should suggest to the producers that Toy Hunters show up at Mego Meet.

Travel Channel angle... it's at a TOY MUSEUM in Wheeling, Virginia.

And given the pure concentration of Mego/Toy Collectors there, I'm sure there can be many ringers that can be rounded up in terms of rarities to show on TV (even if you don't want to sell it, you get to show off your item and then pretend to haggle, like the Tomart guy).

^That is a great idea. I've noticed Travel Channel often reuses footage of the same locale across several shows. So they could also film a segment just on the Kruger St. Museum as well.
