This Flea Market was in Louisville, KY over the holidays, not here in CO. I've never seen this much here in CO! But Rick, if YOU ever do, PM me!

Anyway, I always go to Louisville during Christmas to visit family. This is apparently one of the larger flea markets of the area at that time of year. I asked the seller if he knew about the Megomuseum. He said he did, however, he was not a member. He was a very cool guy, and if I ever catch him during another time of the year, I'm sure he'll get some of my money! (& I, some of his dolls!) He wanted $145 for the removable cowl Batman. He said, "Its ALL original..." I replied, "No its not...."....

I think that a seller can always charge whatever the heck he or she wants for an item, flea market OR toy show. Vintage dolls are no secret. I figure if I find something I want, I can either decide that I WANT to spend that much, or I DON'T want to spend that much.

The couple of times I've answered Craigslist requests of people wanting to buy Mego dolls, the problem was that the people who placed the add claiming "top dollar paid" had the attitude that I should sell to them at some kind of wholesale rate since they were expert collectors. And I was selling $10 and $15 dollar Megos! One guy told me "Oh, uh...I wouldn't be able to give ya that much.." So I thought, Well then alter your add to read: "I wanna give you practically nothing for your stuff so that I can sell & make money off your stuff..." Believe it or not, I know how to use eBay too!

Again, it was during Christmas, and what spendable cash I have during that time of the year usually goes to my mom, sister, two nieces and girlfriend. Anyway.... Maybe next year...

        Fonzie found in the wild...

While looking around at a local flea market yesterday, I came across this lonely looking figure pictured below. Since he was missing a foot and his boots, the seller only wanted $2.00 for this gem (which I gladly paid):

While the Fonz certainly looks a little care-worn in the "before" picture to say the least, he is cleaning up quite nicely. His clothes came really clean after hand-washing with some Woolite and the paint on his head is in great shape with no rubs or scratches of any kind whatsoever. The mechanisim for his arms also works great.

Not a bad find IMHO at all.

By the way, if any of you can hook me up with a replacement right foot and the correct pair of boots (or point me in the direction of someone else who can) I would be most grateful. Please PM me with your/their contact info.

        Thanks!

My last flee market find was the cast of wizard of oz in boxes. Sadly no munchkins and the wizard was`in his bag as usual. All for 40.00
Surprised me to find them at this particular flee market, as it is an antique market from the word go. They have an extravaganza 3 time a year. Most dealers sit on what they have for a long time. They have an attitude of if you don't buy it, somebody at the extrav will.
Haven't been out in full search at the flee markets in a long time though.

One of my local flea markets always has some Megos at high, but not unreasonable prices. The last great scores I got were 2-3 years ago at an indoor flea market. I picked up a couple of apes for $2 each and another time 6 WGSH for $3 each. Some of these, including Supes and Catwoman were close to minty.

                  Mego in the Wild

I started collecting Mego back in the 80s. There was one place near Flemington, NJ--gone now, of course--where I actually PASSED on a Space 1999 Commander Koenig and a Dr Russell--MIBs laying along side of a Star Trek Keeper and a Cheron MIBS (BOUGHT THEM) for $8.50! At the time, I only was into Star Trek. This was in the Before Time (Before the Internet)!!
