Figures Toy Company Announces 8" and 12" KISS

    * Figures Toy Company to Release Retro 8 and 12 inch KISS Action Figures

Tampa, Fl- January 27, 2012 – Finally!! “You Want It You Got It”**”The Hottest Band in the World“**”KISS” * KISS Collectors, Rock Fans get ready. Figures Toy Company is about to*introduce*KISS action figures, reminiscent of the action figures first released in 1977-1978 by the Mego Toy Company.**These figures will have rooted hair, cloth clothing, 16 points of articulation and for the first time will be available in 8 inch as well as a re-release of the 12 inch. *

CFO Anthony Balasco states, “I never understood why 8 inch KISS action figures were not produced back in the 1970′s when The Mego Toy Company had already released the 12 inch versions. Our first release will have the retro look from the 1970′s, but future releases will cover all time periods in*KISS’s 40 year musical career from 1972 to 2012″. Look for special exclusives and limited edition releases. Collectors will be able to find these at toy stores, comic shops, music stores and on-line retailers starting in March 2012.

The deal was brokered by Live Nation Merchandise,*KISS’s Global licensing agent. * * * About KISS * KISS, [...]

The SRP is $21.99, which isn't a surprise considering the up front money.

That license had to cost a fortune.

Sixty bucks for a 12" figure.....I wonder if their bodies will be exactly like the mego 12" guys.

Is Figures Toy Co the same company that does the wrestlers and CTVT figures?

Guess they aren't out of the ReMego format.

Here's hoping that the Kiss license has some stricter quality control and that they are revisiting the CTVT body and improving it given the competition that has sprung up since their last kick at the can.

It would be cool to get a 12" mego repro body, but given the amount of 1/6th bodies already out there on the market, I'm sure there are existing tooled bodies that would be fine for a Kiss fan or collector rather than a Mego collector.

Just found these pics... looks like a skinny 12" repro body. including that pointy finger hand.

Interesting that they appear to be using the exact same molds from Mego!

Yeah, the head molds seem the same. Not sure why they aren't giving Gene and Paul curly hair like the originals have. These ones look very odd with straight hair, hopefully it's just the prototypes. Nice to see them doing different outfits too. Now let's see some 12" Dynasty outfits, I've been waiting for those for over 30 years!

I never collected the original ones. The necks on the 12 inch seem off to me. Were the originals that way as well?
