Our flea markets are mostly outdoor, so there's not much to find until warmer weather. But we've had several Saturdays that the weather's been nice and we've stopped by to find a pretty good crowd. The Megos I've seen most recently were beat and overpriced, but it's nice to know they're still showing up. I think the last things I bought were the Batmobile and Batcave I posted about a while back.
Hey! Where's the waiter with the water for my daughter?

Commercially run flea markets in Louisville are pretty much a bust unless you find something the sellers overlooked. It's pretty simple. Before the show opens the sellers go around to each others tables, purchase the great deals and then mark them up at their tables. I only find good deals at yard sales. And even those are few and far between. Louisville is a fairly picked through market.

I'm at flea markets as soon as it opens to get there while the sellers are setting up so I have first dibs. Most people arrive after 10am and what is the point then? Everything is picked over!

I drive where most people wont because it is to expensive in gas

I've had some luck finding stuff at flea markets here after 10 a.m. Which isn't too bad when you consider most open up at either 6 or 7 a.m.

That is usually what I encounter for the most part. For some reason some people think that they are sitting on a gold mine just because the figures have a 70's copyright date stamped on the back of them.

I bought a ziplock bag full of a few megos at an antique mall here in Wisconsin for $40. They were not all in the best of shape, and missing assessories, etc but...I got a 1975 Fist Fighter Robin, and a regular Batman (both were wearing a Superman costume for some reason), a Batgirl (which I have already traded to someone on the forum), a very nice Captain America (but with a beat up suit), a busted up Riddler (which Toyman_Chris fixed up for me), a puppet with a football player's head on it (traded to Chris), and a 1977 Super Joe vest with a laser/light (or whatever) that I am trying to get to work.

I'm in a holding pattern until the heavy garage sale season starts (apparently rain melts everything or flattens people's hair or something).

We have no flea markets (sad), the used stores are bleh, and Craigs List has completely dried up because some used store around here is posting EACH and every item in their inventory at high prices, filling up all the pages. Any of the few people that post their own goods anymore do so at really high prices.

Even at garage sales nowadays, people think everything they're selling is worth huge amounts, and almost EVERY person I buy some older toy off of all say 'You can probably resell this on ebay for a good price, I just don't want to bother!' as they're already charging top ebay prices for. Or else they say 'I've researched the prices, and this is fair!' as they've picked the top $80-something fixed price on ebay, not the ones ending with lower bids.

This is the time of year I accidentally buy too much goodies from ebay, as I need my next euphoria 'good deal' high & can't get it locally.

That is usually about the way that it goes. It is always a great deal to hear them tell it anyway. Especially dealers, resellers etc. The General rule of thumb with them is if you have it it's worthless. So they tell you anyway. Once they get it from you it suddenly turns into big $$ as everything they touch suddenty turns to gold in their eyes at least.

Totally! And what's frustrating when regular garage sale runners start acting that way. I mean, garage sales are SUPPOSED to be cheap, that's the whole point of them. It costs alot of money for gas, and is physically exhausting (takes me a few days to recover in the heavy season), so why would I pay full ebay prices and put up with all that when I could just buy it from ebay from the comfort of my own home?! *gripe*

A Church rummage sale I went to (usually really cheap prices) was actually quite amusing once. They had the utter misfortune of hiring an estate sale pricer, who loudly announced that she priced everything and prices were fair so we should just be grateful it was going to a good cause (she even glared at us), before she let us in. The prices were waaay too high, and EVERYBODY was grumbling really loudly and saying evil things. It was really quite the scandal of the weekend. That poor church.

Nice D!, a year or so ago I bought a large lot of childhood toys off a lady. a lot of doll clothes which had my head spinning as I didn't know first thing about them.
I eventually found a great id website and just layed out all the clothes I had and worked sorta backwards, looking at pictures and asking myself if I had it.
took about a week of doing this and eventually I actually started learning a fair amount about Barbie clothes and their set #'s. Really helped in selling.
