    MEGO and the Ladies

Hey folks. Apologize for not posting much in your forums here. Do like lurking, though. Just can barely keep up my duties over at ActionFigureInsider
Anywho, posted a blog recently about the couple MEGO 3 3/4" ladies figures that got facelifts:

I think Mego's strengths were to leverage both sides of the toy aisles, prior to the Boy/girl divide going from a stream to a chasm in the toy industry.

You've got Dinah Mite, Maddie Mod, Wonder Woman 12", celebrity dolls like Cher and Farah, leveraging the mego female bodies into girl centric lines.

I really do wonder how some of the toylines back then were racked/shelved. Were Wizard of Oz, the Waltons, Supergals, love boat put in the girls section? Where did dukes of hazard go? Particularly when you have a character that could easily be as much a " doll" than an action figure... Daisy Duke, wonder Woman, Dale Arden... It's the doll factor that I think s the reason why the Mattel ReMego WW has pretty much dried up recently.

also other toy companies... Kenner had both bionic woman and six million dollar man that were compatble, but I assume bionic woman went over in the girls aisle.

Hey, fun article. I actually had that first sculpt Daisy Duke when i was in Kindergarten and I remember wondering why, even then, why she looked so jacked up.

goof read ,as a kid i remember that the daisy ,uhura ,zira etc ,were in the boys toy section ,i seem to recall that the super gals at first were in the girls lane ,then when they were all sold under wgsh on cards they were always with the other heros and titans in the boys lane ,of course dinah and oz along with our gang ,the waltons were sold in the girls lane along side barbies and other girl dolls ,as a kid i would walk through the toys section at woolworths or jc penny looking for more heros or apes ,then when you passed through the girls lane -thats when i first saw those lines.
