    Fighting/preventing dust

I've been holding out for a couple of detolf cases from IKEA, but in their absence what do you use? I've seen a lot of displays and collections without protective doors so how do you combat potential dust and how often do you find yourself cleaning your collection? I found some suitable bookcases that would look nice but don't have doors.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

I fight dust everyday in our house. My collection however only gets dusted about three or four times a year.

      Dust is part of life.

We ourselves provided dust...we shed millions of dead skin cells.

Those Detolfs are not going to stop dust either...it will sip under the glass/hinges.

I thought I had an air tight glass cabinet myself...but dust still manages to enter...and on to the figures. The solution is just to periodically keep dusting and cleaning away.

Check this out...they talk about dust...and how to prevent dust in Detolf cabinets:

All my stuff is on open shelves. I've just resigned myself to the fact that dust is going to happen, and try to clean everything periodically (not as often as I probably should though)

My entire purpose on pursuing the detolf was to eliminate dust. Guess that's not gonna happen, so I may just go to plan B and buy a bunch of shelves from Target/WalMart and wall mount them. Delivery from Ikea is 100 dollars I think. Plus I'd have to tip the dudes as they'd have to use three flights of stairs. Plan B sounds good to me now...

Air Purifiers. They're great cause not only do they cut down dust but also are good for you! Put one in the area of your Mego's and one in your living room or where ever you and the family hang out the most.

Dust finds its way into every display case.
I have a toy room, which you don't have to air all that much, so dusting is a once per year chore. I start in January, finish in December. Then I start again...

Not to be a total shill, and I know they aren't exactly cheap....but a plexiglass cover on a Dida Display box works surprisingly well. I'm shocked by the amount of dust I find on the top of these, but inside it's clean as a whistle.

Which begs the question....how clean precisely is a whistle?

EXACTLY. I just purchased one for both my collector room and office two nights ago. That is the best way to go. Target has one for $39.99 (Holmes brand). That and make sure your changing your furnace filter every 45 days. And check your vents to make sure they are clean. You should be good from there.
