Neal Kublan hated Ampzilla. He told me he thought it looked like a toddler's toy.
Aside from the bright colors, I think it's not a bad toy in person. One thing that's often overlooked is that it is apparently designed to be used by a standard Micronaut rather than one of the bulky aliens. A standard Micronaut can stand in Ampzilla's torso and look out of the eye-ports, and there is a sculpted control panel on the inside of Ampzilla's chest that is at hand-level for a Micronaut pilot. It makes the creature more like a giant robot or a powered armor for a Micronaut. (Think VOTOMS for you anime-literate Mego collectors...)
It is way overpriced in the secondary market for what you get, though. Mego cut a couple of serious corners on it, and it is very fragile with easily worn joints and easily lost accessories.
