The other day I won a Thor on ebay. It came today and it is in right of the card better than I could have possibly imagined mint condition. The first thing I noticed though was the cape was different so when I compared it to the Thor I already have, the material is much stiffer (it crinkles when you move it vs the one that I already had doesn't make any noise cause it's cloth just like all the other capes I have) and the color on the one I got today is more orange when compared to the one that I already have but the new cape is not slick plastic like say Darth Vaders vinyl cape from the Kenner Star Wars line. I looked at the WGSH page but there aren't any pics of Thor's vinyl cape so my question is basically what does the actual vinyl cape look like (could I have possibly have been that lucky and got a vinyl caped Thor without the seller realizing it?) or is what I have a material variation?

The material that MEGO used for the cape should be the same that they used on the vinyl cape Supergirl and Superman. I've got a vinyle cape Superman. His cape and belt are the same material. Post the pictures and I can tell you write away if it is the same material.Comment

Ok heres the pics. The one with the hammer is the new one I just received today.
Subtle difference in cape color is hard to photograph but its there (again the one on the right is the new one)
You can really see the difference and material and color in this pic.
The new one has a stiff cape. It can be bent to hold itself up. The one on the left can't do this, it just falls down.
I also backlit the two together and noticed the one on the right has a different cut to the cape. Its actually a little larger than the one on the right and hangs completely different.

That's not a vinyl cape variant. The vinyl capes will not fray at all, not even a little bit.
Still a nice fig. The hair looks great. You may want to get a nice tight homemade plastic head band on the hair because it will probably be tough getting the helmet to stay on without it and you don't want to break the helmet peg forcing it down on that nice fluffy hair.______

Yeah for sure it's not a vinyl but every Thor i have ever seen has the cape that feels more cloth like. Really interesting that this one is more like a Superman cape. Really interested as to what our experts have to say. Is it possible someone did some sewing and replaced a damaged cape with what is on their now?Comment

One point I want to make on my vinyl cape Superman, the yellow belt is the same material as the cape.

So is the vinyl cape attached to the suit like a regular Thor or is it removable? Also what do you think a loose one would be valued at?"Many Shubs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Sloar that day I can tell you."Comment

It looks a lot like it is attached. The vinyl cape on my Superman is also attached. As far as price goes, I would think think that the price would double. It is a rare item to have. The Supergirls I've seen with the vinyl cape sold for just about double. My Superman was sold to me by a friend of mine. He charged me a very low price. I've never seen another vinyl cape Superman ever.Comment
