    UK Comic Action Heroes Catalog

The little blue catalog that appears in carded UK Comic Action Heroes figure has been a mystery to us at the Megomuseum for year. Not one that kept us up at night but a mystery none the less.

Thanks to Museum member Clemso, we can finally see the crazy wonderful artwork up close.

We’ve put up scans in their fully groovy glory at the MegoMuseum Comic Action Heroes Gallery *and included choice snippets here for you to peruse. [imagelist id=14]

That's really cool. I love how much Superman gets around in the pics.

Is the catalog located behind the figure? I can't quite make out exactly where in the package they placed them. Also, there an overall scan.
    WANTED - Solid-Boxed WGSH's, C.8 or better.

The catalog was inserted behind the figure and stapled in, while the look is similiar to the US cards, it's actually pieces of cardboard folded over and held together with staples.

My guess is DF just bought a container load of figures (with no bases) from Hong Kong and packaged them in the UK.

it mentions three different three packs but in all my years of looking, I've only ever found this one:

If the other two exist, I have never seen them.

Couple comments about the art...Some of it looks like redrawings, which seems to be Mego's m.o.:
        - Robin appears to be stock art that was used quite a bit. Was it originally by Infantino?
        - The Joker is an Irv Novick swipe I think
        - Green Goblin is John Romita (off top of my head it was used on the 3rd Spidey paperback by Pocket Books)
        - Hulk, stock art, again I think by Romita
        - Shazam was obviously Superman at some point...right down to his spit curl (maybe Aquaman was too?)
        - Penguin looks to be from the artwork Mego used for his WGSH box. Was that Infantino too?)

A couple of marvel characters look to be traced from this:

That Romita Goblin image was lifted from The Spectacular Spider-Man #2 magazine cover. Robin is a redraw of Infantino/Giella, and Penguin is a redraw of the Infantino/Anderson poster art used by Mego and just about everyone. The Joker head is usually attributed to Dick Giordano, but it does look somewhat Novick-ish. It comes from the 70s Joker comic series logo. I think that Hulk image may have originally been a Herb Trimpe piece.

All of these are redrawn, which is fun. Captain America looks to be a redraw of Sal Buscema to me. Aquaman and Superman look to maybe have been lifted from some Dick Dillin art. Aquaman kind of looks like Clint Eastwood there!!!

Lol, yeah. Kinda makes me disappointed Hulk didn't get the spit curl.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

                    Robin could use one too.

Cool... never seen that before as all my original CAHs were bought in Canada.
                      Thanks for posting that!

Poor Aquaman gets the shaft on the three pack listings. You would think that he would have gone better with Superman and Wonder Woman.
                        It's all good!

Don't think it's the Herb Trimpe...

                              Or this Trimpe...

This is closest, drawN by Herbe Trimpe and Dave Cockrum?
