    Do you get sad when.......?

I was looking thru the eBay Mego Auctions and i came across a low bid loose Spiderman and Aquaman and decided to not bid on them as i have several loose ones of each. I figured "let someone who hasn't gotten them yet get a good deal." Then i got sad thinking about how i don't need to get them and that the thrill of the chase is winding down. So does anyone feel like that?

Sure the thrill of the chase is winding down as U complete your collection slowly, and U wont be able to hold many more figures in your hands that U dont have. For me the anticipation of new Re-megos gets me excited in collecting further.

Yes. I was just commenting on this the other day. I had a wild ride this past month, but it's gotten to a point now where I don't need too much loose anymore. Still, the thrill of the hunt is there....just more disappointing to not find something.

I agree with Alex, the re-mego project has been keeping me going.

Naw, it doesn't make me sad. I've acquired ALL the original Megos I set out to get...now buying and collecting customs fills the void nicely.

It used doesn't anymore. There two reasons. 1)I have a number of different interests/hobbies. There isn't enough $ to go around to do them all at once. So I move around between them 2)My enjoyment of the Mego hobby has been extended by limiting my purchasing to to the time around Mego Meet. MM reignites my passion every year and because it's a vacation I alllocate extra money for it. I'm usually in Mego mode from then to the next few months then I slow down again, and repeat the following year.

I am starting to feel like that for the first time. Once a year, I'd ask myself what mego I wanted over all others, then I'd hunt it down. That list of "must haves" is pretty short right now.

That's why I am so super excited for 2012's SMDM, BG and CFTBL, etc......couldn't be better timing for me as a collector.

i am with most of you, there is enough Re-Mego coming out that gets me excited that I don't miss the thrill of the hunt. plus I just enjoy looking at my collection in display cases.
I still have a few WGSH i need to track down anyway....and a few common figures from other lines I just have not gotten around to yet

I don't have enough money to end the excitement. Although I have nearly all of the original megos, there are still playsets, customs, and re-megos. In addition to the megos I like to collect other things to fill my man-cave, so the thrill will remain with me for many years to come.

As I complete one set or get close to completing one... I move on to a different toyline for a while.

For example... right now, I'm trying to acquire a nice set of loose Jem dolls... to display in a battle of the bands of sorts with the Mego KISS guys.

I rarely, if ever, look back on a line when I'm done. People often ask me about value on certain items and it's hard cause if I completed my set in 2005, that's the last time I did any research.

I do try to pass on good deals to people I know are looking for them.

                      I kinda feel you.

As a Superman-only collector...I'm rather limited as far as figures go...although there's almost an unlimited supply of various other Superman-related stuff...but I just wanna stick to figures...although I had to get the lunchboxes, lol.

The stuff I'm missing are high priced items though...like SI Clark Kent, Kresge Supergirl, carded Palitoy Supes, solid box Supes...stuff like that...but it still keeps me busy...trying to land that one good deal...so I really don't have much to complain...it's still considered hunting...lol.

It's good to here evryones thoughts. I agree that the ReMego's coming out sure helps keep the hunt alive. I Mean More Doctor Who and SMDM and battlestar Galactice all coming out this year alone brings a thrill back. As for Customs.. they will keep me having fun for years to come. I only have 1 Legionaire done and about 30 to go, My All-Star Squadron is only about half way done. My Justice League needs 2 more classic figures and then a mix and match selection from the Detroit era forward. I'm just strating on New Teen Titans and X-Men have barely gotten started. So there's plenty to keep me busy. Now when i bypass some Mego on ebay i just think " let some new collector grab that one" and i hope they have a blast collecting too.
