Items are worth what people will pay for them. Guides and price lists are always relative and subjective. It always comes down to who is willing to pay what.
When no one purchases these at this asking price, he will realize that they are not worth what he is asking and he will lower his price. Happens all the time.Comment

There wasn't a link in your post, so I might be looking at a different figure, but I just saw an AHI Wolfman who fits the description for $239.95 plus $5.95 shipping. If that's the auction that you're looking at, there's a MAKE OFFER option. The way I see it, if you're going to use the MAKE OFFER option, you have to expect people to offer you less than your BUY IT NOW price. This guy probably saw that another AHI Wolfman just sold for $111.76, doubled that price and is looking for offers of around half of what he's asking. I doubt he'd take $40, but it doesn't cost anything to ask.
Some people are just going to post stuff on ebay to get rid of it and maybe make a couple bucks. But most people posting on ebay are trying to get as much for their stuff as possible. Different people have different methods for trying to do that.
Plus, people sometimes pay crazy prices for the things that they buy. Carded Super Powers Batman figures seem to go for about $75 to $100. Back in May, I saw one on a less desirable, punched card sell for almost $150. Around the same time the same figure on a better condition, unpunched card sold for about $65. You just never know what someone will pay.Nostalgia just ain’t what it used to be.Comment
