    Make your own Oxyclean!

I use a lot of spray Oxyclean to launder toy clothes, & recently I ran out.

Using the bottle ingredients as a cue, I mixed 1/2 C. of hydrogen peroxide, 1/2 C. of rubbing alcohol, and a drop of cheap degreasing dish soap.

It worked really well and was much cheaper. I used a bowl & actually immersed the item instead of spraying it.

I thought collectorsrestorers here might appreciate this tip.

That's a neat formula! Have to try this...

I'd be really wary of using that high of a mixture of the alcohol on some of the more touchy suits like Superman, Shazam, Batman, Aquaman, and Cap. The reds and blacks like to run. I bet if you dropped a pair of Trek pants in that your liquid would go instantly black. I'll definitely give it a try on some stuff I'm not so scared about.

^Hmmm. Per the mixture above, the alcohol would be diluted by the peroxide by 50%, and rubbing alcohol is already in a diluted solution.

I tried it on Mugatu pants & a Keeper robe; I didn't notice any fading per se--but I should compare the Mu pants to a Shazam suit that has been washed in commercial Oxy.

I have extra Trek pants that I will also experiment with. I have noticed that commercial Oxy can fade the flocked collars of Trek tunics.
