    Mego Art

    Hello All.

I've never posted here before so please forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong forum.

My name is Mike and I am an artist who (at my age) basically only deals with model building and digital art paintings.
Here's a digital painting that I've done of the Joker that you might enjoy,...
    The Last Laugh!

Anyway, when I was a kid in the 1970's, I LOVED the Mego Batman series.
I had everything. I had all of the figures, the cave, the Batmobile, the cycle...
My dream was to be a teenager and become Robin.

Anyway, I was always fascinated with the box art for the Mego Fist Fighting figures.
    (Batman, Robin, Joker and Riddler)
I loved how they were kicking each others butts in those illustrations.
If not for this art and the AURORA Monsters box art of James Bama, I may not have fallen in love with art like I have.

For a few months, I've been searching the Internet for high quality scans of this artwork because I want to repaint this art but make it to look more realistic as with the Joker art that I showed you in the above link.

I don't want them to look like Adam West and Burt Ward but rather, just realistic versions of the comic characters.
I guess that I'm thinking more along the lines of an Alex Ross style look.
(But I'm not as good as Alex Ross).

Anyway, I'm not having ANY luck finding high quality scans of these images and I was wondering if anyone could help me and (or) point me in the right direction.

    Thanks a bunch,

    Mike.

Hey nice stuff!!! I'm an artist myself, as are many here on the board. You are in good company. Some fine artists here.

Just FYI, the artwork on the Fist Fighters was created by Curt Swan, long-time DC artist mostly known for Superman. If you look through some of Swan's work, you'll find some of the signature elements of the Fist Fighter boxes. The way the falling character tilts toward the reader for instance, and the punch effect are tricks Swan used often.

Welcome aboard! I'm sure someone has nice scans of them. The museum itself has some decent scans, although they aren't high-res:

Thanks Chris, I'm glad that you like my stuff.
As you can see, I do a lot with the classic Monsters and that's why I'm looking for something different and I figured that the Mego Fist Fighters would be a nice change.

My kind of art! I still drool over the James Bama Aurora boxes as well.
