I had Frankenstein, Dracula and the Monsterizer. I knew there was a Wolfman and a Mummy, but I don't remember ever seeing an 8" Remco Creature or Phantom of the Opera before checking out the recent posts here. Were these the only 6 or were there others?

Creature from the Black Lagoon and Phantom of the Opera were the second wave and thats all she wrote from Remco in 1980 for the 8 inch line -
It would have been great if this line had expanded past these 6 core figures. But I don't remember even seeing the 9 inch Creature or Phantom on the shelves when I was young. My brother and I managed to receive the big four for Christmas I believe. From what I've read they released the 3 3/4 inch figures at or about the same time as the 9 inch set. (All six characters represented in each line.) I wonder if these figures actually competed against each other, as opposed to resulting in more sales. Would parents rather buy their kids the cheaper 3 3/4 figures than the 9 inch ones?Comment

The 9" figures came in 1980, the mini monsters launched in '81 with the second wave of the big boys. The mini monsters lasted until '83 and the bigger monsters morphed into "The Monsters at Home" puppets by '82.
By '84, Remco stopped offering Monster stuff. Imperial would pick up the license next I believe.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

I love the Mego-style 8" figure and I love the Universal Monsters. I never saw the Mego Mad Monsters until I started collecting Megos as an adult, so the Remco 8" guys were all I knew.
However, even as a kid, I didn't like their weird "squeeze action arms" or whatever you call it. I just wanted monsters with regular Mego-style arms so that I could play with them and pose them. Even though I played with the Monsterizer (and I wish I still had mine from when I was a kid), I think the arms kind of killed the fun for me with the Remco Dracula and Frankenstein.
I always wanted the 3 3/4" Monsters...even as a kid. I finally picked up a Frankenstein this year, so I'm on my way now!!!Nostalgia just ain’t what it used to be.Comment

Thanks for the clarification on that Palitoy! That makes more sense from a marketing standpoint.
And generic, now that you grabbed the Frankie, you can't stop. I love the little guys as well. Finally picked up a 3 3/4 Wolfman this year. I had been searching for one in good shape for a while. The rest were pretty easy to find. Have at least one version of each of the 3 3/4 figures. The question is to do I stop at that - or go for one complete glow set and one complete non-glow set.Comment

It's weird, I have zero memories of these guys, I don't remember seeing either size of any of them in stores. When I first found out about them around 1990 I was really surprised. Great line though, I gotta finish my collection of them someday.Comment

They weren't readily available around here either; and I was actively looking. I got a glow Creature some time around '82.... there was a bin of monsters at Kresges downtown and he was the one I picked. That was the only time I saw any of the mo0nsters, in any scale, for sale.
