The CTVT website sells some of the clothes and heads seperately. That might be an economical way to get some of these figures. That way you don't have to buy the bodies.

Buying piecemeal is always more expensive. If you plan on opening them just plan on buying new bodies.

Just went to the Classic TV Toys website, very neat stuff! I was a bit shocked to see companies still making these dolls! If the bodies are inferior to Mego and others, as many are saying, seems like still the suits alone would be worth $5 or so each. Are the heads interchangeable as well?

The Merry men, and the Pirate sets are great for the outfits, just swap out the bodies with doc's and your set....

Is the clothing on the Classic TV dolls substandard as well? Has anyone bought any skeletons from them? They remind me of that scene from Sinbad!

                  >Is the clothing on the Classic TV dolls substandard as well?

                  *ahem* "action figures"

Anyhoo.... I've never had a problem with the clothing.

                  >Has anyone bought any skeletons from them?

Many. They're awesome! (If only they did a glow in the dark one....) Add an AJ outfit.... ANY outift in any condition.... and you've got an instant 70's cartoon villain. The only problem you might have is that the pelvis comes in two parts, and if you force the leg joint the parts can separate. A couple drops of super glue fixes them right up.

i bought the big set of Space 1999. the bodies are total junk so i just swapped them all out. the heads, clothes and accessories are made well so it all turned out fine.

My mental "cheat sheet" for CTVT that I came up with in my head.

CTVT Clothes, heads, accessories = Good!
                      CTVT Bodies = BAD!

They got a lot better as they went on. Some of the later ones were almost as good as a Mego T2. Problem with the Happy Days stuff is that it was one of their first lines, and will probably have the poopy bodies.

My son has a Fonzie in a leather jacket and he has held up very well to his rough playing. He sometimes puts him onto Evel Knevel's bike
                          It's all good!

If you are playing with the figures, then sure, the bodies won't hold up. But if you are just displaying the figures, I think they are worth a try. I actually use the bodies for my customs since I don't actively use them.

The heads, clothing and accessories are great and affordable. You cannot beat the fast shipping and attentive customer service. I like CTVT a whole lot. I love Doc Mego's stuff as well - certainly higher quality, but he does not offer Happy Days or the lines that CTVT does so if you want them go for it!
