    MEGO Spiderman; dead solid perfect

Out of all the MEGO WGSH line Spidey is there biggest homerun simple but just about perfect
The figure looks like he stepped right out of a Spidey comic no stupid oven mitts here
Looking at the figure i'm hard pressed to figure anyways MEGO could have done better
Remember back in 74 working webshooters were out of the question as the tech wasn't there
Swivel arms would have been cool but MEGO never went that route and LJN won't do that until late 75
A removable facemask would have been neat but i dout they could have made it look good
So the MEGO Spiderman that hit the shelves is pretty much dead solid perfect

I wouldn't call him perfect, but Spidey's pretty good. His mask could have used black web lines instead of just being sculpted with no paint, but at least he didn't have oven mitts! As far as the debate over which Mego WGSH was the best executed, I've always liked Thor, Green Goblin, Lizard and the Fantastic Four just as much as Spider-Man.

Perfect in his simplicity. If there is an iconic Mego, it is Spidey. And his villains Lizard and Gobby are almost as good.

Yeah when Spidey hit the shelves I was pretty well mesmerized. Kids today wouldn't understand that. But it was the first time we as kids had a REAL Spiderman action figure. Until then, there had only been Captain Action and that didn't quite get it done (not for Spidey). THIS was an event for a generation that grew up on the '67 Spider-man cartoon.

            Great cartoon and great figure.
If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.

yeah, spidey was the first mego i ever saw and i knew i had to have it! for the other wgsh, for some reason i always thought that they would like the filmation versions so when i saw the figures, i was a bit disappointed. only spidey looked like how i saw him on tv.

Spiderman is great I agree, the dead on head is great and the differnce in the suits makes him always part of the hunt for another one.

Love the Goblin, he is pretty dead on. Shame that they didn't provide a Glider for him. Could have been sold separately if finances were an issue.

I understand that paint apps weren't able to do complex stuff like web patterns back then, but the only thing I think would have been an improvement was to have the webs actually painted on his head, not just molded lines. That always kind of bothered me as a kid.

I actually vividly remember hating the Mego Spidey at first as a kid...I couldn't figure why it didn't have a real mask on...he looked kinda funny to me...but as years passed...he grew on me...now I think he's perfect...lol.
