Too bad he cannot find that die cast prototype of Captain America. I'd love to see that.

That prtotype of the Enterprise was the electronic one they eventually released no? I noticed some details are different from the final movie Enterprise. Being a ST geek I know from old articles I read a company called Magicam designed a movie of the week model and it was discarded when they were fired from the ST movie. Another was made for the film by the new fx team Probert/Trumbull and Dykstra. I wonder if he made his Mego version off the earlier model.

Mego didn't do an electronic enterprise, you're thinking of Southbend.

I think this is my favorite interview so far. So Mego DID think about the Torino as the General, and CB McHaul as BJ and the Bear. And the die-cast Cap...perhaps Mego's only chance to get Cap RIGHT. No goofy eyes, non-white sleeves, giant head, etc.!

Wow, I just got a chance to read this (visitng my girlfriend's family in Idaho gives me little time to surf the Museum :( ) and it is amazingly insightful. I do think I enjoyed the Kublan interview a bit more, but he has such a unique and refreshing perspective. He seemed almost wide-eyed enough and young enough to not attach too much ego to his recollections.

I had not heard about the rocket tubes failure being blamed on the shape change. It makes sense.

What is the Dune Machine? I'll have to do a google search for that one.

One sad note revealed is you can almost feel the transition happening at Mego. Products becoming cheaper, people leaving. It really felt like the last good years.

Thanks so much for tracking this down.

i think tomarts had an article of prototypes a while back and there was a picture of that james bond moonraker boat that he was talking about.
