anybody got any input on this. I am trying to finish up a custom for that fellow that had his stuff taken in St L, but all my supes suits are dingy. Just trying to brighten one up without having the red run into the blue.

I have not washed a suit recently, but if you just use mild laundry detergent and cold water you should be okay. i did that on a keeper robe and had not bleed from the orange to the white

My two cents: You're working with polyester knit, bleeding risk is pretty minimal (it's with woven cotton and blends that there's almost a given of bleeding)

I'm sure you all will say I'm stupid, but...
I just put mine in the washer with tide, on small.
          It works fine.

If your cape has loose threads, expect to cut some off after.
And I have never had any bleeding.

That may be okay for knits where the seams have a locking stitch but it's a bad idea -- as in very -- with woven fabric (again, like cotton or blends); almost certain to get heavy fraying, likely some split seams. I stick with hand washing, Woolite to start, then regular detergent if the piece is still looking soiled.

              Hmmmm....

If you have any worries at all, first try a hand wash in warm water with dish soap.

Be REALLY careful with dish soap! I'm sure you're talking Dawn or whatever, that's likely okay, but I accidentally squirting some Cascade dishwasher liquid on a favorite dress shirt and within seconds every spot bleached completely white!
