    Sears Wishbook Megos

While doing research for some Fisher Price sets I came across a site that has entire scans of Sears Wishbook Catalogs throughout the years. All kinds of toy references from Mego to Star Wars to GI JOE to Fisher Price, almost anything you can think of. Thought I'd share the following pictures from a 1975 Catalog:

If anyone wants to check out other catalogs and look for other Mego Pics the link is: Welcome to WishbookWeb.com

Great site. Don't forget to check out the Museum's XMas Catalog archive.

It was 1976 when I got the Star Trek Bridge and Telescreen Console from this add.

The only problem with seeing these great ads again is seeing the other toys that I suddenly cannot live without.

If only I had a time machine! lol! I did just pick up the space 1999 ship from that last page, earlier this summer. It's in rough shap but should be fun to restore! Gonna have to land a Batcave one day.

$6 each for the Bat vehicles seems pretty cheap.

I remember seeing the JJ Armes figure for the first time in the 1976 Christmas Catalog. I was fascinated by it and ended up getting it. Still love the novelty of that figure. Very original. never seen anything like that figure before or since. And to think it based loosely on a real person.

Yep. JJ Armes is a real guy, a local celebrity where I grew up. How a P.I. in El Paso, Texas got his own doll is beyond me.

Still in business and as colorful as ever. http://www.spymall.com/investigators...n_figures.html

I wondered what Armes was up to. I have the figure (MIB and loose) and the van MIB. Also his signed autobiography!

In what seems like something of an odd move by a P.I., Armes was the poster boy for self-promotion, making the rounds of talks shows, writing that book, and more. Why an action figure, exactly, I'm not sure but not entirely out of the question given how high profile he was at the time.
