    New member saying HELLO

    Hi All

Just signed up for the forum yesterday! My name is Tyler, and I am a 34 year old Visual Effects Artist from California.

I have always sort of been fascinated by Mego - I never had any as a kid, but I always knew about them, and when I started collecting toys as a young adult, they were always around - Honestly, I dont own a single one - But I read the forum and listen to the podcasts a lot!

I do however, find myself now a little too drawn in by the Mego, Remco, Lincoln, and AHI monster lines - And if my ebay watch list is any indication, I think I WILL own my first mego (or mego-ish) figure in the next few days!

Also, I have been attracted to MEGO also lately because I have ALWAYS wanted to start my own toy line - 3 3/4 I didnt want to do, and 12" was cost prohibitive - But the Mego scale has a great balance of detail and reasonable price structure- I have been kind of goofing around with 3D prototyping and I think I am relatively close to being able to say that my dream of my own small toy "company" might come true!

Happy to be here and look forward to learning, contributing when I can, and getting that first mego (ish?) in the mail!

    -Tyler

Welcome and YES, those monster lines can prove to be addicting. That's the only other line that has drawn me in to collect past my POTA passion.

Are you planning on 3D printing the parts as made to order?

                    Thanks everyone!

To answer the 3d printing question - Im not sure yet -

I 3d modeled a mego scale CRIMSON GHOST head and I sent it off to the printers - Waiting for it to come back to see if it is
                    A) Smooth enough to just paint and go, or
                    B) will need touch-ups, hence having to fix it then do rubber / resin type molds -

I think if I did a real run of figures though, I would have them manufactured - This is just sort of a test - PLUS - The 3D printed heads are like 10-12$ a pop - which is OK but after printing, painting - Then end price for a figure would be too high -

Welcome aboard Tyler, this hobby can always use another toy company doing 8" figures. Which characters did you have in mind?

I was thinking maybe some of the public domain characters from the old movie serials, and maybe a Frankenstein monster that is more based on the description in the book, stuff like that at first - Test the waters with things that dont need lic. fees!
