Mego of the Week - Tex Willer

Today on Mego of the Week we look at the Tex Willer line released by Mego under the Baravelli name. I admit I had never heard of this line until I joined the Mego Museum. But once I did I fell in love with them. And really, what’s not to love. While all 4 heads are reused from other Mego lines the outfits are bright and colorful. Not to mention that the Baravelli Tex Willer Store Display is one of the greatest of all times. I was very excited when I was able to finally complete my set. However, prices seemed to have dropped on the Tex Willer figures since the release of the figures from CTVT. I also think these would make a nice set of Mego Museum trading cards. Just saying. For more information on this piece visit the Tex Willer Galleries at the Mego Museum

What can I say, i love my set. Some of my favorites. The box art is phenomenal, the colors are very subtle so you might find a lot of the boxes are susceptible to sun fading, so perhaps the design can be lost a bit, but fortunately mine are case fresh examples, so hopefully you can appreciate them in all their intended beauty.

I think Tex Willer is one of the more colorful western lines in the history of action figures. Certainly appealing to the eyes of collectors today. But probably not a line that fills many kids in America with childhood memories, since these were the European counterparts to our less enthusiastic Western line. So that's likely why there is little feedback on the topic. But easily a superior line to the domestic brand. And one that is beautiful to behold. Love the outfits and artwork. Had these been available for me as a kid, I would have jumped on them. A great series in the Mego universe.

What he said. As a Mego collector, I love these guys, took me years to piece my set together but there isn't any nostalgic connection to these guys, I found out about them when I was 25.

Has a Tex Willer store display box ever surfaced, truly a thing of beauty. Also, they look great displayed with the WGSHs in the display rack in this pic. I think mego really thought about this design wise.

I too had not heard of these till I joined this website. The whole Tex Willer line is gorgeous. Its hard to go wrong with cowboys & Indians in my book. I have two of the loose incomplete Mego western series, and I got the CTVT's remakes of the westerns. Now I have to have these.... the search begins.....
