The Mego story, would it make a good movie?

A small toy company that makes a action figure line that goes gangbusters, rising the company to dominance, only to have it start to disintegrate under a fateful mistake(missing the license to the next big thing).

Then to find redemption years later with a following and declaration of the figures as classics.

I do not know about a movie, but it would make a GREAT business class in college. There is a class at SLU in Hammond (where ABMAC works I think), the entire class is on the JFK assassination. I guess the class still being offered.

I think it has the makings of a great comedy. High flying, 70's era, crazy celebrities, boogie nights meets barbarians at the gate kind of stuff

Hmmm...Maybe a good documentary, like the GIJoe story.

Yeah, I don't know that the general public would care all that much about our beloved toys and their story, but the rise and fall of a plucky toy company in swinging 70's New York could be a lot of fun. The comedic Barbarians at the Gate/ Boogie Nites approach is good, I'd also be interested in a gorgeous period piece like Mad Men on AMC.

You could have a lot of fun with it, especially the celebrity encounters I've heard, Sonny Bono shaking them down at toyfair, the Don King stories, Linda Carter storming out, KISS etc. It could be a riot.

I was talking about this the other day. but found that it would be a bit boring for those not interested toy history. Maybe you could make Neil Kublan a serial killer or some thing.

I don't think you have to be a toy fan to enjoy the Icarus-like tale of a maverick company that quickly rose to the top and then burned out just as quick. Add the heavy-drinking, drug-partaking 70's to some lurid celebrity interludes and you got a decent little story.

I have no interest in soft drinks (other than drinking them), but I found the story behind the New Coke decision to be fascinating.
