    Bold Adventure, that's my game

We had a smaller pic of it here for years but this morning we added this 1972 trade ad to the Action Jackson Gallery showing the tremendous TV push they gave AJ back in the day. Click on the link to see a larger view. We’re updating the Mego Museum Action Jackson Galleries all this month, stop in and check the progress. Got something to add? Let us know at the Mego Museum Forums!

I think a few maniacs here could recreate this. :-)

Man, what memories. I remember when I was 5 and they'd show the commercials all the time during the afternoon cartoons. I begged my mom for one. She wasn't too keen on a girl wanting an action figure, and said she'd ask my dad. His only stipulation was it had to be black. No problem, so we walked the 2 blocks to Stationery's toy store and I got one! Man was I happy!

I can never recall ever seeing any Mego ads ever till I joined the museum. I only knew of Mego's from in store placement. Sad to know all this was going on and I was like 30 some odd years late for the party.

I think this is a perfect example of why Megos were such a big hit back then. We as kids SAW the ads and mimic what they did in those ads. Mego showed us the possibilities and we ran with it from there. I think those ideas are so ingrained in our heads, we forget the current generation does not benefit from what we are so hard wired to know as a result of growing up with this message. For us it's instinctual. But for today's generation, Retros are truly their first exposure to the Mego experience. So advertising should be a part of that introduction so they can learn just like we did as kids.
