    Mego question

Have some loose at the waste ( elastic ) mego pota figures from 1974

Is this how they came back then. You can actually pull and see the elastic.

Also have some 1969 & 1973 mego pota, which seem a tighter connect between the stomach and hips ??

    T 1 vs T 2 ?

t1 is metal rivets at the joints. single cloth encased elastic band holding the whole thing together. Many of these have been stretched and need rebanding.

t2 is all plastic. Two rubber elastic bands and an elaborate assortment of hardware to attach them to the shoulders and hips. The elastic can definitely deteriorate over the years. I usually restring them up T1 style, but you can use other types of elastics. like o-rings from the plumbers dept of your hardware store. ctvt figures use the same configuration. Many times you can cannabalize a ctvt for the parts.

Type 1 --It is first version issued, was a metal rivet, and strung together with elastic. TYPE 2 -The second issue has plastic joints not metal, and strung together with hooks and rubber. I believe most of the 1971 bodies have the metal rivet. The 1974 bodies have the plastic joints.

To restring a body isn't that bad. There are some instruction on the Museum site in the CustoMego section and I've used those to come up with my own variation found here http://megomuseum.com/community/showthread.php?t=62784

That's an excellent link magyar1964 provided, although I've never restrung a T2. For the T1, try this. Honestly, couldn't be easier. It's easy and you can be done in five minutes, tops. If I can do it, you can! Get in there and try it--if you mess up, no big deal, because the string is cheap!
