Amen the the fact that collector demand does not equate rarety. In comics Hulk #181 is a high dollar book dispite the fact that there are thousands and thousands available. CGC alone has 3,177 graded copies recorded. Anyone can go to a big con and find one at virtually every vintage comic booth, yet in fine condition they sell for about a grand. At the same time you can purchase much more rare, and much older issues of Batman for half as much. So rarety alone is not the reason for high prices....

...still everything mentioned are items I'll never own. I would love to see seperate lists of; prototypes, rare production items and items of high demand. Is there one that I've overlooked? Guys like Dumbldor who basically hold a doctorate in Mego could make a fairly definitive list that a non-rare loose collector like myself would like to see.

I seem to remember something being fishy about the bidding, can't remember the details tho

Hi, I`m a newbie here but a long time UK mego collector. I have a few of the items cropping up on the list; 1st Bradgate Soldier Ape, 1st Brad Zaius, 1st Brad Cornelius, Fist Fighting Spidey, Cap, and Lizard, Green card Palitoy Thing, 2nd Palitoy Verdon and Burke, all on high grade but neatly opened cards.
I also recently picked up a mint unopened box Johnie Jackson. Any guesses on the value of these? Chris

Welcome ukmegoboy. Sounds like you have some nice foreignmego stuff in your collection. Great picture of the boxed Johnnie Jackson, thanks for sharing. As for its value, that is a tough question. I can't recall seeing these on eBay, and the museum gallery only lists one known example (which could be old information). That usually means you'd get a good price for him, but the Action Jackson market can be oretty fickle due to so many items being readily available. If I had to guess, I'd say $60 (probably about as much as I'd pay), which means you might be (un)lucky to get $30 or it could soar well over $100 if the right bidders notice it. Good luck if you decide to sell it, and be sure to let us know in the Auction Watch forum if you go the eBay route, or the Marketplace if you decide to sell it here. I'd be interested to see what he goes for.

The only known example is out of date as myself and one other have acquired boxed versions since then. However, they aren't this nice. Value is tough, while very rare, there aren't as many AJ collectors out there as there used to be. I'd probably bid though.

Hi, I`m thinking of letting JJ go, as I don`t really collect it. If anyone wants to make an offer let me know.

                boxed jet jungle 1
                carded wonderwoman 2
                Bill GAH prototype 1
                web handed aquaman 1
                sleeved wondergirl 1
                carded ff robin 2
                carded palitoy cap 1
                kresge shazam 2
                carded bradgate zaius 2
                carded bradgate soldier ape 1
                albino soldier ape 2
                grease prototypes 1 set
I'm sure theres many more I'm not thinking of, especially wgsh items.
would any stretchies make this list?

Interesting thread, I missed this first time around, so apart from the plethora of Case Fresh Johnnie Jacksons mib, has anything else changed since 07?

There are more than 2 carded FF Robins out there. There are now more than 3 Kresge Shazams (I know of 4).

Do prototypes count? To me they are a separate category. Of course they are rare.

I think prototypes are a separate category. They are, by definition, rare. I love learning about these unique itmes that were produced for market and how so few have survived.

                      >Micronauts Gyrotron, Equestron and Iguanos - all claimed by Mego pres & vp's to have been manufactured. No examples have ever surfaced on record.

Since the issue hasn't been fully resolved; Iguanos and Equestron have my vote. Mostly 'cos NOBODY'S ever seen one in person. I have copies of the tv ads for them, which I remember seeing when I was a kid; so I suspect they WERE produced. Wether or not they were DISTRIBUTED seems up for debate. Maybe there's a warehouse somewhere, stacked to the cieling with 'em?

I wouldn't count the Gyrotron, even though nobody's ever seen the Micronaut one, 'cos I'm pretty sure folks have seen the Microman version.

Isn't carded Iron man pretty rare? I also read in the book that a carded falon is very rare but the demand isn't there so they are not insanely priced.

Well I think the Webbed hand Aquaman and long sleeved Wondergirl are prototypes of sort or very early production seeing as both are used for promotion.

How many carded Goblins are out there? and as I've mentioned in another thread. There can't be that many Boxed GW Shark sets. I guess anything with less than 10 known to exist should go on that rare list.

Are there pictures of the GREASE prototypes anywhere? I'd love to see what they had planned for that line. Heck, I'd have even bought those if CTVT had done them.
