    Mego Mystery Astronaut???

I have a question about the mystery pilot. Did he ever come with a white belt? I have one of these pilots, I replaced his body with a Type 2 and I have a repro helmet. Mine came with an elastic white belt and I wasn't sure if he just aquired this somewhere or if some came with one. Having a T-2 body, is this still a collectable figure? Maybe I should give him a super posable body? What would you guys do with him?

Yes with a white Elastic belt. I saw an original try to sell for $250 but had no takers. It is supposedly very rare so people are wary when they come across them. I have only seen 1 to date.

I've seen two or three in original baggie, one sealed and as fresh as the day it was purchased, never with a belt.

So is the white belt a freak variant or did it just end up on this guy?

It just ended up on the guy, i added one to mine, he looks naked without it.

John Bonavita added one to his, published it as such and the rest is history:

The link to the pilots via the WayBackMachine is clever and awesome

I say $250 without the original helmet is far too high. I think I have sold nice MysteryAstro without helmet for around $85, and perhaps $130 with the helmet. $250, IMHO, is the premium sealed and bagged price.

I have had around 5 "Mystery Astronauts" 3 in baggies and 2 without. None with belts. The person who acquired them for me got them in a store for 1.00 each. The person called them G.I. Joe knock offs. The box had around 75+ of them.
