    Interesting Sign Spotted at MCC

It seems somebody else is having a World's Greatest Toy Auction this spring. Nothing was on display other than this sign, although they seemed very hot to buy ANYTHING related to old toys.

They were at the Kane County Show yesterday as well, but they had a case full of rebagged Mego figures completed with repro parts. I didn't bother asking about prices, however I did snag these off their table.

What this "buyer's premium" of 15%?
              Rules

Also, I wonder what the shipping cost is like?

Most of the descriptions include repro parts.

              I think I'll pass.

When I see the buyers premium I always wonder exactly how much actually makes it back to the original owners....

I don't think the original owners get any of the buyer's premium. I think those are meant to be fees the auction house charges to make their money. That's how Hakes Auctions works as well. That's why a seller makes out better selling via auction houses such as Hakes and Mears. The buyer pays most of the fees as opposed to evilbay where the seller pays all of the fees.

MEGO Museum Fans, Free Mego Pinback promotional buttons

I want to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Troy Kinunen, and I am the founder of MEARS Online Auctions. I have been buying MEGO/1970s toys since 1998. My passion is Planet of the Apes, Six Million Dolllar Man, and MEGO's.

I am the founder of MEARS authentication services (MEARS - Autograph and Collectable Authenticity Head Quarters - ), which specializes in game worn equipment, and more recently, MEARS Online Auctions (Sports Memorabilia, Baseball Game Used Equipment
                        ).

Last week we launched our first Pop Culture Auction (comic books, movie posters, toys). I included many introductionary lots of MEGO action figures. Most have been restored using Dr. Mego parts, and that fact has been disclosed in the writeups.

I have many more all original, vehicles, MIP, MOC, and rare variations that will be posted in upcoming months. I wanted my first auction to be simple, and slowly build the quality of the lots that I offer.

The MEGO's in this auction have low minimum bids starting at $9.99.
Since the majority of my auctions are consignment based, we charge a 15% buyers premium. This covers the cost of photography, cataloging, staff writers, insurance, etc.

Since I am a big fan of the Mego museum, I will waive the 15% buyers premium to anyone that wins a lot in the first MEARS auction. Just email me after you receive your invoice and I will adjust your fee to zero.

Additionally, we had a very limited run of MEGO promotional buttons produced for this auction. The selection included Penquin, Goblin, Kirk, Supeman, Tarzan, and Spiderman. To any MEGO Museum fan that is willing to sign up to our free email list, I will send a free button of your choice, while supplies last. Interested parties can contact me at [email protected].

The auction can be viewed at Sports Memorabilia, Baseball Game Used Equipment
                        .

                        Thank you for your interest,

                        Regards,

                        Troy R. Kinunen

Thanks for the nice offer of pins and waiving premiums. That's generous of you to the MM Lovers!
