I want to commend David and Jason for making this public. It is very hard
to have deal with something like this - and doubly hard to lay it out there
for the community to know about and comment on.

Let, me get this stright, does this mean that if the molds are brought,by company x,they can illegally put out castaway like figures under an x brand, or does it mean they can illegally sell castaway figures with a castaway brand on the body? I just want to know, cause, I shop at cons re junk/reject and parts bins and I have often found good deals on figures in there, I want to be able to tell them apart.
Sorry to hear about your problem and hope youcan straighten it out.

        Thanks Paul,
You have been a tremendous help and resource for us... If there was ever any doubt, and I know there was not, let me state what a great guy Paul Clark is. This just proves how much you care about MEGOS, action figures/Toys and folks in general... Class Act all the way...

            Dave, Jason --

Seriously? What a boatload of . . . plastic salvage (trying to keep it (G-Rated).

Sorry to hear you're having to go through this, especially with all the years of hard work you''ve put in to make Cast-A-Way happen.

Just so we can better give you a hand, where's the best place to watch out? Online? Dollar stores? I'll be sure to give you a heads-up on anything I run across.

that sucks for you guys with all the work you've put into the toys. Any evidence that they have already been put to use by a bootlegger?

                  Need some made-in-the-USA manufacturing!

I've been playing with at-home manufacturing (laser-cutter, 3D printer, vinyl cutter). There are some new developments on the horizon for 3D printing that should make high-quality models affordable. There are also very affordable CNC mills that can make metal molds for injection molding. For small-run hobby markets, we really need to bring it back to the US.

As Joe and I said in the Museum podcast, we are very interested in looking
into U.S. manufacturers that are willing to make toys in small quantities.

And not just injection molding, but costuming as well. Everyone I speak
to is put off by the scale.

Like Paul said Manufactures get put off.
                      its extremily tough.
"cottage "industry is fine for making simple things. But as a when dealing with things Like Profit margin or Production. costs ,it becomes a Nightmare. Not to mention the labor Regulations!!!
Plastics manufacturing is worse with EPA regulations!
If some was going to do it you would have hire your own sewing team, large area to work and supply industrial sewing machine .
and make a simple basic outfit, Like a camo Jump suit , or a black night time commando Jump suit.Like the real cheapo knocks off the 70's.
It will still be pricey , because the mount of volume that has to be produce to off set the cost of production.

I'm placing an order for some figures through the Castaway website as a show of my support.
If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.

I'm so saddened to hear this, after all you (& other "small" manufacturers) have done for us collector-customizers.

Another kick to the little guys...grrrr.
