Both entertaining and educational. A bit of business news that both Joe and Paul might find interesting...

Former Mattel president Friedman named to head Toys R Us

Neil Friedman, former president of Mattel Brands, for El Segundo-based Mattel Inc., was named president of Toys R Us U.S., the toy retailer said.

For Wayne, N.J.-based Toys R Us, Friedman will oversee all merchandising, marketing, store operations, merchandise presentation, global sourcing and product development for the company's 866 stores and online business in the United States. He will also handle merchandise planning and allocation for those stores.

Regarding the interview, I'm glad to hear their latest venture with the undead license is finding new interest. And it's comforting to know the DC hero line will be taking a breather to allow all of this product to fill demand. Lots of product out there. I haven't even picked up Wave 4 yet myself. And let me be the first to say, I didn't find anything "encryptic" about this slow down in the hero line. I think Joe is right in suggesting the current pace is not sustainable. With so many licenses in play involving the eight inch format, some spacing is needed so the target consumer is not forced to choose between one or the other. Smart move and I support it.

You should have heard his potty mouth after the podcast!

Actually I have to say that there was no editing of our
comments - I listened to it this morning and everything
we said was there - warts and all.

I'm glad that you guys have this opportunity to hear
us talk at length about what goes on for us in working
on these figures. I purposely wanted Joe to do most
of the talking since most members here don't know much
about him - aside from some postings - and he really
does put a lot of himself into these toys.

Scott and Brian thank you so much for the podcast!!! The more I listen the more I want. Is weekly too much to ask? Joe from Emce had an interesting take on the Marvel license and I loved his jag on reliving the childhood experience via TRU. Paul was great and candid also.

This might be addressed in Part 2 but I believe Zica wanted to go w/the Emce body for their Buck Rogers line. It would be interesting to hear what happened with that or if that was just a rumor etc.

A Venture Bros podcast would be great. Is there any chance you (Scott/Brian) would be able to get an interview with Jackson Publik? Jackson talks briefly about the BBP! figures on the Season 4 (episode 2 or 3) commentary track.

If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.

While I do have a mutual friend with Jackson, I have to imagine he's a big get and a lot of podcasts want him.

Considering I spent the evening listening to hours of venture commentary, it is something I would love to do.
