At the risk of possibly sounding old and outdated here (I'll be 40 this year).......sometimes I long for the 70s when you could just disappear for a while and not be so connected to the rest of the world every minute of every day by cell phone, computer or other such personal communication device.....but then again I go nuts if my phone and computer aren't functioning properly. My brain lives in two completely different worlds simultaneously....is it possible to be bi-polar by living in two different eras at the same time???....and what would medical science call it.....bi-pol-era??? LOL!

Kidding aside though these are very cool......thanks John for taking the time to scan and post them here. They bring back some great memories of buying comics as a kid at the local 7-11 store where I grew up in Florida.....ahhhhhhhh....those were great times.....just didn't know how great until I became an adult. Today's kids will eventually be 'turning' the pages of their comics (should they survive....the comics not the kids) on their kindle or other such digital device. *SIGH*

I feel ya I'll be 40 this year as well seeing some of the ads in the comics I've been looking through. Some have the Saturday cartoon line-up ads they are alot of fun to look at also the movies comming out. My son had alot of fun looking at this stuff with me but I bet not as much fun as I did answering his questions and him telling me we need to go back in time we would be rich LOL (He saw an add for new cars in a 1968 comic the highest priced car was $995 and all ya needed was a $50 down payment)

i LOVE how all of the ads were comic style drawings of toys from comic book characters yet still somehow look just like the toys

                John,

Well you are ahead of me and my wife......the only 'children' we have are of the 4 legged variety, LOL. Must be nice to have your son wanting to go back to the time when you were little.....he must not have hit puberty yet when most kids wouldn't bare the thought of going back and relieving the years when their parents were little coupled with thinking their parents are so old and outdated.........oh jeeze.......listen to me go on.....I'm becoming my parents......when did that happen???

Yeah, my grandparents bought a 3 bedroom, 2 bath brick home in Florida on 1 1/2 - 2 acres of land for under $15,000 in 1964.......try buying a car for that price now.....amazing how much things have changed since then.....oops......hold that thought.....gotta go reinforce my 'soap box' real quick like.

So true! It would be cool to see a whole comic book drawn in this style where Mego Superheroes battle it out with the bad guys like we did with our Mego WGSHs as kids......Challenge of the Super-Megos!

These should be added to the gallery site or archived in some way for posterity.

You have me for real laughing out loud over here

My son really loves Superheros so when I pull out older comics he is right there. We pick some and both read them then talk about the story lines its alot of fun to ask a 10 year old what he thinks after you both read the same comic it really brings another outlook on things.

                        John,

Always happy to bring some humor to the Super-hero Round Table of Time and Space Travel regarding comic book ads. Your son sounds delightful.....can we clone him?....and if so do you take 8" MIB Megos for trade?.....or is he the higher priced deluxe model that'll cost me the up charge to say....a 9.5" Boxed Robin or worse........a 12.5" Non Magnetic Fly Away Action MIB Batman??? Ouuuuuu......make ya a deal.....what about one of your clones (doesn't have to be one of the brainier ones) for a repro Mego Great White Shark set......huh? Deal or no deal? I'm not gonna be here all night....k?

Whew.....you drive a hard bargain buddy! What can I get for one of the lesser intelligent prototype models that my wife and I can just borrow when we go on vacation.......say......a loose Comic Action Mego figure?....do I have to throw in the base too???

Something tells me I'd be a great Dad......until my kid outgrew me mentally when he turns 5. You're son hasn't turned 5 yet has he? Otherwise deals off Pal. I don't want to be a contestant on that show.......So You Think You're Smarter Than A 5 Year Old......if I go on that show I'm done for, LOL!

                            Hey John,

Ah rats! Well, can you and the Mrs. hurry and conjure up another one right quick?....then I think we can make a deal for the repro Aquashark and box. Ah heck I might even throw in a retro DC Aquaman on a Doc Mego body with the set on account a you seem like such a swell Dad n' all!

Or we can simply toss the friendly banter back and forth for a few more pages till we run out of material.....your call..................So what'll it be Buddy?.....Baby or Banter???
