Great write-up! Enjoyed the video. I always wanted to hear what the buttons sounded like outside of the commercial. I remember thinking they were cool as a kid, but my brother and I had walkie-talkies from Radio Shack already and while using them one night some trucker cut in on our channel and threatened to find us and hurt us because we were jamming up the airwaves, and we never used them again. I used to watch the Mego commercial and wish that they would have some sort of exclusive channel where people couldn't cut in.
      It's all good!

When I read that blog. I thought "Wait a minute! I own a set of those!". It completely slipped my mind that I still had them.

So I went and dug them out.

Mine don't have the original box and aren't as nice looking as those are. But, I got mine used at a flea market around 21-22 years ago. Think I paid $1.00 or $1.50 for the set since they were/still are broken and have sun damage. And it looks like one of mine also had the antenna replaced at some point.

I noticed mine have slightly different battery labels with the date of manufacture stamped on them. I didn't see a date of manufacture stamped on those . If it is there, it's so light I can't read it.

I'll try and post pics within the next day or so.

Okay. Here's the pics of my comms. Sorry if they look bad.

The back to this one has a clip broken off the back so it doesn't stay on. There's also a peg on the front that holds the lid that's broken off so the lid doesn't stay on either. This is the one that had the antenna replaced. Date of manufacture "10 JUL 1975".

This one's in better shape. The back is fine and the lid still flips up. Date of manufacture "7 JUL 1975".

And the kid who owned them before me apparently yanked the batteries out
of both of them because the black wires were ripped off/through the back of the battery connectors.

The ones I have are with the box instead of the bubble pack you have (same art but bigger).
