Love the little SuperDeformed figures. Great way to leverage those awesome sculpts. I'll definitely be getting those for my SD collection. The best ones always have an element of caricature and humour involved. Maybe we'll see Bobble Heads!
Not all the figures are necessarily completely in my wheelhouse either, but there is definitely a lot of talent, passion, and enthusiasm behind the creation of these guys. Kudos to the creative talent squirreling away behind the scenes, you folks have pulled it off beautifully. Having seen the head sculpts up close, they are truly a work of art.

The little zombie Bush has his guts hanging out and I thought the Kennedy one was in poor taste. I dread the idea of news outlets coming here looking for some drummed up controversy.Leave a comment:

Here's a bunch of new images from Heroes in Action. The figures are slated to arrive in August. We'll get him on for a podcast soon to get some more info and find out what the heck he was thinking. As you can see in the display case, they are partnered in some was with Toy Tokyo, which I think makes a lot of sense.
Here's a preview of the amazing package art....

They did look cool in person. The sculpts were really nice. There was a regular Kennedy on display that looked great.
I would maybe buy Lincolnstein, and it would be cool to put together the X-Presidents, but I doubt I would buy the rest.Leave a comment:

Impressive display. That would be very cool to see in person. I might buy some of the regular versions of the presidents. It would be cool to have a Reagan figure.Leave a comment:

He took the White House from the 70s Amy Carter paper doll book and blew it up. I hit it with some Scooby Doo brushes in photoshop, came together great.Leave a comment:

The series shot ties the idea together. Seen individually, there is a bit of "what is the joke here". But looking at the batch as a whole kind of makes more sense. If anything it is a great display!Leave a comment:

Well, you know, people's response at the Museum makes sense. As a Mego collector, this is probably the last thing you would have asked for, and right now you have a lot to choose from in Mego styled figures that are a lot closer to your interests--Super Heroes, etc. But you gotta give em points for originality!
To make any kind of a run at this you've got to sell to people who don't care about Megos, and properties like this stand a chance of appealing to different people beyond your usual toy collectors. The political niche is certainly under-served, and as public figures they are recognizable and fair game.Leave a comment:

>Then why not make some stuff kids would want to collect?
I'd bet they realize the price point is gonna put them out of the range of kids, so's they're aiming for a different audience.

That's a fair point, but it's a whole other discussion. It doesn't seem like anyone in this format has really attempted that. Mattell barely. You could argue the regular HIA Presidents maybe, I'm sure a few kids ended up with an Obama figure, but that's really like getting kids to eat their vegetables.Last edited by megoscott; Feb 14, '11, 1:43 AM.Leave a comment:
