As collectors, our first thought these days are to associate action figure lines with a manufacturer. But as kids, what did you call Megos? For myself, the WGSH line was simply referred to as "superheroes". If you would have said to me, "Mego is putting out a new wave" back in 1975, I wouldn't have known what you were talking about (even though I collected so many of their lines faithfully). I didn't think about Mego with my heroes, anymore than I thought of Hasbro for my GI Joes. If it had a removable outfit, I thought it was cool. I don't believe I began associating a manufacturer with action figures until I got back into collecting around the late 80's to early 90's.

Until I found the forum, I always called them "May-goes" (as in "wherever you may go").
Don't ask why, my best buddy at the time did the same thing. Not matter if they were Superheroes or POTA, they were all "May-goes"...
And I still have a very hard time not calling them that to this day.....

Guys. For most action figures. As in "Okay, my guy will team up with your guy and we'll fight those guys".
"My guy can fly".
"My guy is going to drive the batcar over there."
When I was older, I referred to them as "those Superhero figures with cloth outfits" (to differentiate them from Super Powers or Secret Wars). Up until I discovered the Museum I called them Meg-Oh's. (Rhymes with Leggo my Eggo).Comment

Actually, I always referred to them collectively as Megos (although I too mispronounced the name to rhyme with Lego).
Which now that you point it out, *is* odd... I didn't call my Star Wars guys "Kenners" or my GI Joes "Hasbros". But I had Star Trek and superheroes and Action Jackson, and even as a kid, thought of them all as Megos.Comment

I called the 8" guys my "Little Men" and my 12" guys my "Big Men". I still call them that. Just last week I told my brother about "the new little men coming out". Old habits die hard.Check out my website: Megozine Covers - HomeComment

At the same time, I stared at this for hours and marked off what I wanted with a pen. So I might very well have known them as Megos. I think I forgot about that after awhile because I vaguely recall that when I went looking for them as an adult I didn't know what to call them.

Good question.
My brother and I refered to them as "Jointed-Guys". This was to differentiate between them and "Star War's Figure's" which is what we called our... Star Wars...Figures.
That's kind of dumb now that I look at it, but hey that's what they were."Steel-like jaws clacked away, each bite slashing flesh from my body - I used my knife and my hands, and when they were gone, my bloody stumps - and yet the turtles came."Comment

"Hey Timmy, I got some new Star Wars guys"
"Come over to my house and bring your superhero guys"
I was always aware that all my superheroes, Trek, POTA, etc figures were made by the same company, but I don't think I started using "Mego" by name until I was around 12 years old. Then I started calling the Megos.Comment
