I added to my Mego World's Greatest Superheroes collection this week with this excellent boxed Superman. I bought it not because of the later box variation (I only noticed it after the fact) but the Hudson's Bay price tag.
Let me set the frame; when I was eight years old, I was Mego Superhero crazy, fueled by the Challenge of the Superfriends. One problem is that most of my local haunts had two choices: Hulk or Spider-Man. Unfortunately, I had both of those guys. I tried to get my folks to order from Heroes World, but that wasn't very easy at the time.
Hudson's Bay opened a store in the next town, and my mum took me to the opening. Boom! There it was in the toy department; a Mego Superheroes counter display box loaded with characters from the Heroes World ads, Green Arrow! Shazam! Iron Man! My tiny head exploded, and I went home with that Iron Man.
It was a very happy moment in my childhood, and seeing that price tag brought me right back to the moment. To me, this is what collecting is all about, being in those moments.

That was great deal. I keep telling folks what a customizing treasure trove the Target releases were...

My nostalgia for the first eight Mego WGSH figures went into overdrive with the 50th Anniversary releases. I have faith that Mego will lock down the Marvel license, especially if the DC figures do well (and they seem to be doing well). So that leaves the odd man out:

Tarzan himself is an all orignal Type 1 except for the repro knife. The repro box is from the Toy Room.Comment

I always had a place in my heart for the mego Tarzan it was my first mego as a child. My nostalgia for the first eight Mego WGSH figures went into overdrive with the 50th Anniversary releases. I also have a Type 1 and fortunately I have him with the original knife, but I have mine on the repro Kresge card, also from the Toy Room.
Anthony’s one of the best for repro cards and boxes. Congrats on your jungle man pick up, UNGOWA.Comment

Went to the Deland comic and toy show on Sunday and found some good Mego deals. Not sure where Scotty got his groovy pants from, though:

Was looking for the Nosferatu black overcoat (because I didn't buy the glow in the dark figure) and ended up with 3 for $30 (that includes s/h).Visit my wiki site:

Got a cheap lot of four Married with Children, two from the older CTVT line(Marcie & Kelly.) from an eBay listing. Mostly wanted the Mego Clothes, Peg's clothes for my Janine Melnitz 8" since I saw that and thought it looked good for as a desk outfit, and the Kelly for a possible ST extra like I saw Custom Crafter do. While I didn't like the likenesses I have to say the accessories were on point for the characters.
Here they are showing concern for Porky trapped in his plastic prison that may or may not open.
Another eBay listing, not not much Mego where I live, had a Buffalo Bill come up once locally on Craig's List.
Was an auction so got him at a good price even though I'm more of loose collector.

Here's my new stuff from a Toys 'R' Us trip, got the gang putting on the Ritz, I'll cut him out eventually.
I've never done toy photos before, man did everybody fall down a lot.
Little pigmentation problem already on Worf, I hope they're checking their plastic formula on that since that isn't decades of fading.
Anyway used some poster paper I forgot about for the background but I'll use a sheet next time.
I believe in psychics, but I also believe in charlatans and mental illness.

A few days ago I won a Wave 1 Frankie for only $16, got a Hunchback for a svelte $10 (I take it he's not selling well) and a while ago got a Screaming Werewolf for $12. Now I have all three Wave 1 monsters together.Comment
